I would expect this deal to go ahead, but without knowing the terms can't say how good or bad the agreement will be. I expect Pacific LNG Operations Pte Ltd will want to have all the ducks in a line before making a FID though. Bit surprised they need another survey, why didn't they cover that in the last one?

The Sulu Sea basins appear to be a very decent prospect for the company if they do indeed get them.And it also appears the local and national politics want these fields developed which is crucial in terms of long term investment.

The PDA-BP-2 and PDA-BP-3 are both situated in the Sulu Sea Basin with areas of 780,000 hectares and 532,083 hectares, respectively. To date, six wells have been drilled within PDA-BP-2, of which three are gas discoveries, and one with oil and gas shows. On the other hand, seven wells were drilled within PDA-BP-3, of which four had gas shows, and one had oil and gas shows.DOE Undersecretary Alessandro O. Sales said the DOE will select applicants who can demonstrate a good understanding of the possible resource potential of these areas and will carry out a work program that will efficiently map and test the potential. Applicants must have experience from exploration and field development in similar areas and the necessary risk capital and financial capability to explore and develop."I encourage you to further evaluate these petroleum potentials. We have the best contractual terms to offer that could match and compete with other countries," Undersecretary Sales added.

I think some urgent research on previous operations and drills in that area is needed as the RNS issued on this was light on detail.If Sunda have found another potential "Timor" i think many eyes will be on this.

1-dma thanks for sharing - do you know anything about those applications ?? in the RNS in august it did not actually state which was being applied for but it did say "joint applications with other company".

I do wonder if Sunda have found another tasty big gas play here like the Timor asset.
