Sorry, but so what. They've found another wreck. The couldn't salvage anything from the last 3, have no money left, have mounting costs and are looking for a sneaky buy-out. Wouldn't jump on this one at all

I advise everyone living in the English countryside to go and watch the sun coming up right now, it's stunning and puts all else into it's proper perspective!

No blue59 - I remain interested though because the idea is captivating and because of the way management so spectacularly blew their opportunities along with the goodwill of their shareholders.

My concerns are: a) the global economy is in trouble and that will not favour companies like this one. b) The company will need more money c) The management are in this for themselves and ordinary shareholders may be forced to carry more weight without commensurate reward d) The management lack the experience needed for this particular business. e) The management appear to be superficial thinkers

All problems can be surmounted with competent management but, in this case, I suspect that they are too far up their own behind's to deal hands on with real problems and are unlikely to see them coming.

A jittery economy plus poor management can sink the best of companies. So, with this jerry can the best I'd hope for is uncommon luck and a bonanza result - in which case I would sell, sell, sell on the rise and run like hell.

That said, if I could get in on a private placement on a very silly discount with warrants I would consider it - but I'd still keep a very sharp eye on the exit.

There is one potential plus on the horizon though - With the current US Presidential term coming to a close it is likely that the US economy will be engineered into one last hurrah before its performance out-dose the dramatic close of the last centuries roaring twenties. In that case, if the public are gullible enough to believe that this time it really is different, then the global markets could break new record highs - and that would probably take speculative companies like SUB along for the final upward ride.

No - I must admit that I didn't look at it. But I had a quick look just now and I see it's doubled since the 8th of October!! So I assume that the boat has left without me!! when did you buy in and at what price [IYDMMA]

stewart - I have friends who live there one of whom was a govt official working in the oil licencing office. So I do know something about the place. I also travelled extensively on business in Latin America during the 70's, 80's 90's and was in the area in 1982.

I can assure you that, if the Argies turned up off Stanley again and attacked they would eventually win as UK MOD has been changed so much since 1982 that no matter what successive Defence Ministers may have said, it would be impossible for UK to mount another Falklands War effort. So the ultimate risk of the Argies getting all excited if significant oil is discovered cannot be ruled out and so a major political risk still exists.

You may be happy to put your funds there, and I wish you well, but I repeat I personally regard the Falklands area as unattractive on cost and risk when compared to other oil exploration opportunities elsewhere in the world.
