31/10/2012 08:14 | Heading down to 2 pound. I did not see this coming in what i saw as a safe investment - oh dear! | ![]() jeanesy2
31/10/2012 08:12 | I think it's the acquisition which is worrying people more. Revenues are not large and no mention of profit that I could see, plus heavy capex to come. 29 year old President up against e-bay. American acquisitions often a graveyard etc. | ![]() westcountryboy
31/10/2012 08:02 | Not well received by the looks of things ! The trading statement as trading in line seems to have been interrupted as a potential profit warning imo. | ![]() jeanesy2
31/10/2012 07:17 | Significant RNS today (share placing to finance acquisition of bidStart, plus trading update); it'll be interesting to rummage around for more details on this US company, to see how it can be integrated with SGI. The RNS also details the intention to expand into the low value, high volume online market as the next phase of its internet strategy - presumably a case of "look out, Ebay"... Would be interested in the views of more seasoned analysts than myself, though! | ![]() dashton42
29/10/2012 15:30 | I have been invited to attend a presentation evening at the strand on November 14th so i am expecting news about the rare fund pretty soon. Shame i can't go as i live too far away and will be at work. | ![]() jeanesy2

25/10/2012 12:48 | j2 Nice link thanks for putting that up. like it says in the header "a lifetime investment". I have held for over 7 years now originally in quite heavily at the 80pish level and have topped up on a number of occassions since, at around 120pish and around 90pish. I even held through the 07/08 rise up to 250pish. I sold a few earlier this year around 225p as my holding was out of proportion to the rest of my portfolio, it probably still is. I'm a big believer in the business yet, funny enough, i've never been a stamp collector and probably never will be. My only regret is not having shown an interest in 2003 when they were 20pish, i was watching but not buying. I have a few interesting paintings that have value but i'm not interested in collecting stamps as an investment, i know it seems odd but that's the way i see it. Like you i think there is still plenty of growth to come as interest in collecting spreads across the asian continent and hopefully the south americas too. It looks promising at present and the share price seems to be moving again. Happy to continue holding, nice divi too, although i was a little concerned when they froze it in favour of growth, this better be a proven strategy or i'll be a more than a little disappointed, time will tell. 25/10/2012 10:46 | I am hoping for news on rare stamp fund and office opening in Singapore before the end of the year, woodcutter. | ![]() jeanesy2
23/10/2012 18:34 | I was sent an email about investment in rare stamps with stanley gibbons today. here is the link for those intersested. | ![]() jeanesy2
22/10/2012 20:04 | nbl trading statement on the 16th oct was positive so i'd expect sgi to be doing okay too. we're not likely to get a trading update 'till january so i figure unless there's anything specific to report then it's just hold tight time. WC | ![]() woodcutter
19/10/2012 19:19 | There appears to have been some quite large trades recently , buys i think and yet the price remains in static? | ![]() jeanesy2
17/10/2012 19:47 | Need some positive news to get us out of this range ! | ![]() jeanesy2
10/10/2012 14:48 | On reflection, considering the values received for some of the higher priced stamps at the recent auction it would be fair to assume that there is still significant interest and demand within the market place. i think perticularly for the rarer items. With the share price trading in a tight range for several months now it would be nice to see it move on up to the next level. Need some impetus/news to get the momentum going again, sadly any trading statement not likely 'till januaary. WC | ![]() woodcutter
09/10/2012 20:57 | Well spotted; both under 214p so probably sales. | rotors
09/10/2012 20:30 | A couple of 100k trades reported after hours today from 5th oct. I wonder what they are all about ? | ![]() jeanesy2
09/10/2012 16:21 | R you may be right, moving up again, it is one of my largest holdings and i'm still onboard. i think overseas growth is the key. WC | ![]() woodcutter
08/10/2012 14:42 | I do not personally see any need to panic. Fundamentals remain sound, dividend 3x covered. Exposure to China remains a positive. Olympics demand yet to be quantified. This is a 'commodity' like gold and oil which cannot be devalued by wretched politicians with access to printing presses. From the technical side, recent periods of sideways movement have always been followed by corrections upward. My target above 240p remains. The new investment fund is due shortly, I believe. The March figures will be crucial. R. | rotors
08/10/2012 09:53 | j2 yes i agree after a very brief! review, lots of the lower values selling for a little less or about estimate but as you'd expect the rarer items going at more than estimate. It won't shift the share price though as you quite rightly point out. Not sure how to view this now, is it the begining of a drift in interest in the industry? maybe we are reaching a levelling out and likely to experience less growth. Woody | ![]() woodcutter
05/10/2012 19:40 | Results in woodcutter. A bit of a mixed bag imo. Mostly low level stuff. Most lots sold. Can't see it making an impact on share price imo | ![]() jeanesy2
05/10/2012 15:13 | The Arnhold collection II auction was held over the last two days, will be interesting to see how that developed, maybe some news on that might shift the share price a little. woody | ![]() woodcutter
01/10/2012 20:12 | It is about time this moved upwards | ![]() jeanesy2
17/9/2012 19:54 | All quiet here. Here's hoping for an nbl type rise some time soon ! | ![]() jeanesy2 |
