This has much further to fall IMHO.

Chinese banks' bad loans increased for the ninth straight quarter to the highest level since the 2008 financial crisis, highlighting pressures on asset quality and profit growth as the world's second-largest economy slows

Investec today:

Of the UK domestic banks, Barclays remains our preferred play, but elsewhere, we now see greater upside for Standard Chartered and HSBC (both Buys).

Note that both STAB and STAC haven't fallen in line with STAN. If they had it would be a bad sign.

But they haven't.

I'd say that STAN is around 15% undervalued ATM.

Oh, The grand old Duke of York,
He had ten thousand men;
He marched them up to the top of the hill,
And he marched them down again.

And when they were up, they were up,
And when they were down, they were down,
And when they were only half-way up,
They were neither up nor down.

Kiwi2007, Imo, When a fund manager says one thing do the opposite, they will not want to inflate prices so they can buy in before the crowd comes in to play. When they say buy, they have a large client looking to offload. All market noise looking to trick the crowd. Lol

Wishful thinking? However, I do think that 2014 will prove (at last) the year in which the volume of large M&A will take place ahead of rising world consumer demand as we get out of the mess that's lasted 5 years; it almost biblical.
