26/9/2024 16:47 | Fair enough, guys. I wasn't aware prefs always fall by the exact divi on ex-div date; and I should have been as I own and have owned a few. As an aside, if you buy a stock the day before ex-div day in a spreadbet account (even @ 4:29pm), you get the divi paid to you after close of business the same day. It's a risk but I have had a few (not prefs) that have not dropped and even risen the following day......and I've sold for a free divi. This can backfire though, ha ha. | starpukka
26/9/2024 15:18 | starpukka Because the next dividend day will come round soon enough? Because it was available at an attractive rate post the XD date? Because money became available then? I think there all kinds of perfectly valid reasons... | cwa1
26/9/2024 15:17 | I bought these at a 7.3% yield. Waiting for ex dividend on prefs ain't really worth it as they fall by exactly the dividend which you can re-invest.I bought SAN ex dividend as RSAB got bought in so sold them a couple of days before SAN went xd so bought them xd.As rates fall I will and do have capital gains alongside a strong income stream. | dope007
26/9/2024 15:10 | Hello Dope. But why not buy something where ex-div date hasn't just passed ? | starpukka
26/9/2024 13:59 | I bought for income in a falling rate environment | dope007
26/9/2024 13:24 | If you buy this stock 6 months or so before the next divi, you must presumably hold the view that the share price is going to rise within that time; or why buy ? | starpukka
20/9/2024 10:57 | Have also added at 123.75 today for a yield of 6.67% If the base rate only fell once in the next year, I reckon the total return would still be 10%+ I would have probably picked a different one at a higher yield, however I would have had to call up ii to buy those and as its in the wife's name it might have been a bit tricky 😅 | return_of_the_apeman
20/9/2024 07:35 | Just added a small amount at 123.6 I think it was. Decent yield with falling rates still | dope007
12/9/2024 16:19 | XD today. 4.125p per share payable on Tuesday 1st October. | jong
01/8/2024 11:57 | Off to the moon here :) | my retirement fund
23/7/2024 08:54 | I am close to retirement also NSB and that is the soul reason I have bought some prefs. SAN, LLPD, STAB, STAC GACA at an average yield of around 7.3% for me is a good and hopefully stable long term reliable income. That is assuming no more tender offers which is a distinct possibility. | dope007
23/7/2024 08:50 | At 75 points reduction from my many years as a holder of a range of prefs will support and strengthen the share price and make any redemption offer more likely to be then be more generous than it would otherwise have been. | my retirement fund
23/7/2024 08:28 | Thanks for that view Dope. I was considering selling these today to buy RIO on the drop, but think I will just hold for now. Best wishesNSB | north sea boy
23/7/2024 08:26 | The prefs should rise. I hold a few different ones now bought in the last 12 months with an average yield between 7 and 7.5%. As base rates drop the prefs should rise a little as people buy them for the improved yield over cash. I personally think fixed interest products are a decent place to be at the moment if rates start a slow and measured decent. The main thing to watch out for is tender offers for them. I have had 2 now. Bristol and West, followed by RSAB more recently. Done well out of both and recycled the money back into other prefs. | dope007
23/7/2024 08:19 | I bought an initial holding of STAC into my ISA this spring after they went ex-div. Just for the regular income now that I'm retired. Does anyone have a view from past experience of how the price might be impacted, if say, base rate drops from 5.25 to 4.5 over the next 6-12 months? Thanks, and best wishes,NSB | north sea boy
23/7/2024 08:01 | Well two 100 million trades yesterday, what is going on? | nerja
18/7/2024 11:39 | Just added a few more at a smidge over 120p giving a close to 6.9% yield | dope007

25/6/2024 07:58 | MRF, I wondered what the issue was, it’s very strange to say the least | nerja
25/6/2024 07:49 | There's only 100,000,000 in issue. | my retirement fund
25/6/2024 07:23 | Would think there has to be an rns issued for that size of a trade | nerja
25/6/2024 07:19 | Largest trade I have ever seen on a pref | nerja
25/6/2024 07:18 | It's a good question. BIG trade. Definitely wasn't me :-) | cwa1
25/6/2024 07:12 | Ok who just bought 200.000.0000 of these? | nerja |
