"SSP Group wins €136m F&B contract at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria"

SSP Group has won a €136m contract to operate 10 F&B outlets at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Airport.

The eight-year contract, valued at €17m per year, will include a mix of local and international brands as Starbucks and Burger King line up alongside Spanish charcuterie Enrique Tomás.

SSP Spain Director General Blanca Ripoll enthused: “This new contract win reaffirms SSP’s position as a leading restaurant operator in the travel market in the Canary Islands with a presence in Tenerife, Lanzarote and Las Palmas.

“The hospitality industry is currently very buoyant in Spain. Branded restaurant chains are, in particular, strong generators of wealth and employment in the country.”

SSP Group will take over the existing units at the airport, as well as opening new ones.

Shore Capital: special divi potential at SSP

There are structural growth opportunities at SSP (SSPG), owner of Upper Crust, and the chance for a special dividend, says Shore Capital.

Analyst Greg Johnson retained his ‘buy’ recommendation on the stock after increasing his full-year revenue and profit expectations. The shares were flat at 715.3p yesterday.

‘We have a “buy” stance on SSP, highlighting the structural growth opportunities, continued robust momentum and scope for further returns to the shareholders,’ he said.

‘We believe that there is scope for a further £100 million-plus special dividend, which combined with the ordinary dividend of c.£40 million, could equate to a near-5% yield. Such returns appear sustainable for the foreseeable future.’

Yep, its liable to downside hits quite frequently.
Think folks get scared when they see the like-for-like revenue growth guidance and bears sell-down to scare folks away.
They probably miss the deal/acquisition growth strategy and can therefore easily undervalue the stock.
Also, I think Swann is probably a person who under promises and over delivers. Let's hope so.

Average cost of debt last year (30/09/2017) was about 1.6% (All Sterling) excluding the Revolving Loan which was undrawn.
Interest cover stood at 12x.

So its not the long term debt they'll be repaying its more likely that they are raising debt to payout Trade and other payables which stood at £428m at the last half-year.

Since interest rates are rising better get in there I guess before they go further and get the current liabilities sorted out!
