20/9/2024 07:38 | Divi reinvested, I'll take yesterday as a one off and put it down to interest rates uncertainty although the BOE governor did confirm the trend is now downwards. | bountyhunter
19/9/2024 18:46 | Yes, I wonder too! Do they have much US activity - if the dollar falls after the interest rate cut that will provide a "currency headwind". I also noticed that National Grid and Drax fell today too - could Labour have floated some nasty tax or something? I'm holding anyway as I think they have a lot going for them. | bigbertie1
19/9/2024 18:34 | Todays volume: 3.2mm Average vol: 2.2mm Divergence = +45%, looks like someone offloaded a slab there, wonder if an RNS will follow... | jrphoenixw2
19/9/2024 16:16 | Agree 100%. Hopefully there is some hidden value in at least the FTSE 250 stocks to be realised based on fundamentals vs the US equivalents, but I don't hold out much hope for the majority of the AIM market! | bountyhunter
19/9/2024 16:12 | BH @ 4308: 'It is a dire reflection on the performance of UK markets Vs the US however!' Also a dire reflection re: the depth of government meddling in UK listed sectors - what is the next targeted sinning sector going to be, oil, tobacco, motor manufacturers legally required to sell e-cars no one wants, unhealthy food, banks, 'profiteering' renewables? Does any of this happen in say the US? Also how pension companies have had to divest heavily from the stock-market (risk) and load up on bonds instead (kerching for the govt obviously.... just a coincidence I'm sure [balls]). So who invests in UK PLC shares now? UK trackers, minor international diversifiers and value opportunists scooping up outright no brainers? | jrphoenixw2

19/9/2024 10:55 | That makes the point even more strongly! I'm beginning to wish I was American. From that multiply your portfolio by up to 7 times depending on when you started investing! | bountyhunter
19/9/2024 10:52 | I just posted this on the LIO thread - a quarterly comparison since the FTSE began in Jan 1984. | skinny
19/9/2024 10:45 | Cheers Skinny. No change in 15mins time, or will the BOE surprise which might see this mornings losses reversed? Generally the UK market has shockingly underperformed vs the US over the last 5 years (and longer!): The AIM market (pink line) has performed the worst. I wish that AIM shares had never been allowed in ISAs as was the case originally, as my worst performers have been in that sector although only part of a diverse portfolio. | bountyhunter
