You would hope so but I'd rather see them over £3 and someone else take the slack . The last few days movement from last Fridays rise has me slightly miffed!!! I'm more interest in The Masters over the coming days but will can always live in hope.Have a good one

This must be good news that the company keeps buying shares isn't it?

If the Company doesn't want to buy shares where the aggregate price exceeds £3 then why should mug punters......they are obviously of the opinion that they are not worth anymore than that. The buyback shares in treasury can either be re-issued (naughty naughty) or cancelled - strange they have not declared cancellation, more share options on the way, no wonder MA is laughing!........the Company buy shares on his behalf out of company funds, he gets a bigger stake, more share options.....then takes it private.DD

Sailastra Good morning sirAll got back from golf in one piece .SPD performance wasn't all that yesterday so was a grumpy old man last night . The volume was low and subsequently so was the buy back. I noticed they didn't pay £3 at any point during the day so I've got no idea what their tactics are. Let's see what today brings. All the fun elsewhere i.e. Imagination technologies .

As James Bond said I think it was in Goldfinger "drive for show, putt for dough"

Have fun but it's the short game that counts....

You'll notice SPD are flat today and if they dip below £3 there will be volume but only depending on how long they stay there. This is a tactic that a seller could use to get the price down to then get volume done in what is a very thin market today. If the price is £3 or below for a very short period of time the buy back volume will be very low tomorrow .

Sorry, I agree that the £3 thing is being overplayed, my point really. The company have not used the word "average" or "£3.00" you have....
What they have committed to is buying up to a maximum of 86,324,793 shares and not paying more than £ 258,974,379 in the process....Which in simple terms works out at a maximum average of £3.00 per share but could turn out to be less. The authority for this was granted at the AGM in 2016 and the total number purchasable in the recent campaign includes those already purchased prior to the restart of the buy back on 5/01/17. If they were to refuse to pay over £3.00 that would imply that they saw little value above that level....Is that your contention...I assume not, so lets agree that £3.00 is of nominal interest and move on..

An interesting point was made the other day by a poster asking if these shares held in Treasury could be sold at a later date to increase profit.. I think not but am not certain and feel this matter was worth consideration above the other...

SailastraMorning sirI appreciate your thoughts but I'll think you'll find that SPD wording of average £3 and what they're willing to pay has not been made clear. In the scheme of things this is not worth discussing but I did say yesterday that I doubted they would be an RNS today ( no RNS) plus 2.1m shares traded yesterday and they would have had plenty of opportunities to buy them with such good volume.

Only a small point but it has to be said that the opportunity to buy above £3.00 has been rare during this current phase, so as yet not a proven hypothesis.

SPD could have bought 25/- yesterday and it wouldn't have taken their average over £3 so maybe their wordings wrong or just they don't fancy buying any over £3. Draw your own conclusions from this .

Morning puntersIt early days yet but have you noticed there's no buy back from SPD this morning. I'll keep my eye on it just in case it comes out but I'm not expecting one.

It deters the shorters, they know the price will be supported at a level but it makes it harder for them to get out. IMHO anyway.

Thanks for all your helpful comments! They only bought a few on Friday which suggests a self imposed limit. Going all the way back last year, I see the max price was 300p exactly.

A while back I noticed SPD opened up from there previous closing price of 299.90 and traded above £3 for the rest of the day .The buy back was only 4000 shares the following day. This was a month or so ago.SPD average purchase price is below £3 in my view because of all the stock they've bought at 292 and below They should be able to buy stock here but still keep the average down below £3 but I'll think you'll find out this won't be the case and there will be very little volume from SPD today.

Thank you and a good day to you too...For my part I took the rise on Friday but will continue to watch this space as longer term I remain open to the prospect of considerable upside here, although I am mindful that there are headwinds...

Would I be correct in thinking that if the share price rises significantly any time in the future the shares that have been bought back could be sold back into the market thus increasing the profits.
