A new member of the Board, Andrew Gaughan, over six years with Sportech after it acquired SGR. Sportech does keep its employees for a very long time, which indicates its management are respected. "Andrew is also a qualified lawyer, and is based in Toronto, Canada."

I very much doubt that anything the Republicans introduce (if anything) around online gambling will have an impact on Sportech. Few supported the existing laws having rejected them in Congress umpteen times before they were sneaked through appended to a Homeland Security Bill in the very early hours one morning post 911.Sheldon Adelson, owner of Sands Las Vegas, is anti-online gambling for obvious reasons. He will no doubt continue his campaign against online Casinos in the USA but this does not affect SPO.

Getting to highs. A nice investment but what will they do with the money?

Debt free now and money to invest? These are exciting times - they should really think about some acquisitions if they are not to put themselves up for sale again.

A special dividend really is something that they need to look at

finkie, the Year End was 31 December and prelim results are released in early March. We may hear something then about a divi.SPO has hinted in the past they plan to invest in the USA. I hope they spend it wisely.I'm happy to see the share price climbing steadily over the past month and expect this to continue over 100p.H2 will have benefitted from a weaker GBP and exchange rate at year end may help.

They appear to be doing very well around the globe.SPO stands to get extra $$ if NYX SNG wins new US customers starting from May 2015 when SPO sold."Up to C$3.0 million for non-New Jersey, USA customers acquired by SNG over the next 5 years (limited to C$1.0 million per new customer for a maximum total of three customers); "

I was just browsing recent news articles speculating on whether there will be legislation changes to internet gambling. The greatest threat comes from Sheldon Adelson who as head of Las Vegas Sands stands to gain personally if internet gambling can be shut down as he wants.Interestingly Trump recently investigated setting up a Casino in NJ where his mate Gov Christie was taking the opposite path to Adelson. This indicates Trump supports it."Just three states - New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware - allow internet gambling, and well-financed opponents, backed by billionaire casino magnate and Trump backer Sheldon Adelson, want to ban it nationwide.Trump and his daughter, Ivanka, formed a company in New Jersey to explore the possibility of offering internet gambling in New Jersey before the state legalized it in 2013, but never applied for a license to do it."

Trump likes gambling and once owned four casinos. SPO is more into soft gambling. It's unlikely the Republicans are going to touch horse racing, given that many of them own race horses.Trump's supporters include strong opponents to online poker. However, this doesn't affect SPO as it doesn't offer poker in the US. SPO sold its share in the NJ casino to its partner NYX. SPO retained shares in NYX, which would only become of material value if NYX did really well.Trump said last year on Fox tv that he would like to legalise the sports betting market in the US - estimated to be $149 Billion. His argument is a rational one: it is there illegally, so legalise it and collect taxes.

Brownie69, the two directors increased their shareholdings by 11% and 85% respectively.The shares they sold are to cover their personal taxes on the gains, which is quite normal in these circumstances otherwise they would have to fund their tax liability from elsewhere.Increasing their shareholdings would suggest a special divi is probable.

Long suffering? The share price is in a pretty good position considering.

Could well be a special dividend coming up as well.

Still think this could reach £1 fairly soon.

The key is the US market - Trump may not do much but given SPO have some good monopoly positions it might not actually be a bad thing.

They key is that they have an online and a physical position which means, even with an online bad, they are in decent shape.

What was the "ongoing corporate activity" that prevented the options from being exercised for so long? The VAT case? Or Pools sale? If the latter, presumably all discussions have ended?

How long before we get a special dividend surely we can have say 20p in the next 4 weeks? it was always said some funds would be returned to shareholders come on it Christmas don't be scrooges.

Carcosa, actually that makes sense. If the amount customers paid for playing STB didn't include VAT then the earned revenue in those years increases by the VAT amount and the company should have included it as earned revenue in its accounts. However, it cannot reasonably re-do its annual returns for each of those years. Also, it could have used that accumulated income for other opportunities. There is a lost opportunity cost, especially considering the State lottery, which did so much damage to this business, had a tax advantage.It has been decided the error was by HMRC and it does not seem reasonable now for HMRC to treat the overpayment repayment as taxable revenue.

IMHO Market seems to have ignored the compound interest kicker - could be worth 30p plus a share assuming 45% tax although it might be six years away it could also be less than a year away if the Supreme Court lay out the law clearly allowing us to lie 4 square within it.
