20/12/2011 09:04 | 4G/LTE is an ex-growth market??? | shuisky
16/12/2011 18:42 | SPT has paid out 6.16p in dividends in the 9 years that I have been a holder, on and off. At some point every growth stock has eventually got to crystallise value. No global growth = no earnings growth, unless you can increase market share. IF SPT is going ex-growth then we might as well classify it as an income play. I leave it to some of the old hands who still probably lurk on this board to comment on the maturity or otherwise of SPT's market. Might as well buy Centrica or Aviva and pocket the dividend stream as sit around waiting for Godot. I still had hair and teeth when I started analysing this stock. (And brown trousers). Stil have the brown trousers come to think of it. | dalesiders
16/12/2011 14:40 | Its a tech thing. There was a bit of rotation out of tech into defensives and staples yesterday in the States, so this is just catchup. End of year etc etc. Its just as likely to reverse in the next few days IMHO. | shuisky

15/12/2011 10:56 | Is there something I dont know? Colt off sharply yesterday and more today while Spirent suffering the same fate. Is it a European thing or a Telecoms thing? | prokartace
13/12/2011 17:22 | I agree. For its size of market cap, this stock exhibits an awful lot of price volatility. | shuisky
13/12/2011 08:40 | Here we are. A classic buying opportunity that this share offers from time to time. In my humble opinion, that is. | prokartace
03/11/2011 10:12 | Earnings estimates expected to be achieved in 2011. Starting to generate free cash flow now and SPT has $227m in cash and can make future acquisitions. At some point the management have to think about getting rid of the systems division which really doesn't seem like a good fit at all. Either way there are a lot of routes here for SPT to generate earnings growth and cash flows for shareholders. | shuisky
03/11/2011 09:33 | A decent update today, shame about the euro concerns still lingering, confident hold for me this one though. | cheaky monkey

24/10/2011 16:33 | SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--October 24, 2011-- Spirent Communications, a leader in testing wireless networks, services and devices, today announced a new product offering for mobile device designers and developers. The Spirent CS8 Wireless Device Design Tester, targeted at engineers who design cellular phones, tablets, data cards and machine-to-machine cellular modules, bundles industry leading network emulation with innovative testing software and subject matter expertise into a package that addresses the needs of design engineers. Spirent has established a global reputation for its wireless offerings, best known for highly automated testing systems used by manufacturers and network operators for design verification and acceptance testing of finished products. "CS8 is about delivering our performance testing and rapid test case development technology, which until recently were available only in our network operator solutions, into the hands of the design engineer," said Spirent vice-president Hesham ElHamahmy. "In fact, by offering purpose-specific software, interfaces and other components, this one platform can be used at every stage of the development process, from RF or baseband design to system-level DVT." Spirent's Dr. Salim Manji added, "For example, the CS8's Interactive Tester includes a network-grade Evolved Packet Core (EPC) that was originally developed to test 3G and 4G/LTE network equipment. Using the same EPC testing solution that is relied upon by infrastructure vendors to verify their network equipment provides immense advantages over using a fixed script-based EPC. First, it runs right out of the box, without requiring the user to spend weeks modifying scripts to control the network. Second, the implementation is very realistic, both in terms of latency and in the completeness of the message implementation." CS8 is available for RF/baseband design, protocol design, system DVT and chipset-platform testing. For more information on the solution visit www.spirent.com/Solu | valedo
21/10/2011 11:54 | SPT's US rival Ixia gave results last night and they beat estimates amidst talk of a resumption of global spending, not least in Europe. I listened to the conf call and it was quite upbeat. I'd expect SPT are doing at least as well. | shuisky
19/10/2011 12:57 | well I heard it. Quiet boards are always the best. let's keep it this way. results soon, should see some broker upgrades. | rimmy2000

04/8/2011 07:46 | Interims are out... 'In the wireless and positioning markets, we have seen strong growth in the first half of 2011. Towards the end of the period we saw a more cautious stance adopted by some of our customers in the wireline market, particularly in the USA. Spirent sells a broad product offering to a large number of customers based across all geographies, which gives us confidence as we move into the second half. We anticipate further momentum throughout the remainder of the year, albeit at a lower rate than the first half, and in line with our original expectations for the second half-year.' It's generally positive, but the end of the first paragraph is in line with what their peers are saying. I'm patiently waiting here, and watching others results. Their competitors were all noting a slowdown in stimulus related telco spending in China/India and I don't think SPT is immune. | shuisky

27/7/2011 14:03 | Profit warnings recently from Ixia and Aeroflex and disappointing news from Juniper Networks sheds some gloom on short term prospects for the sector. Juniper has some strategic partnerships with SPT I believe, so the read across from their numbers is not too promising. I think I'll keep my powder dry until certain macro issues resolve.
