03/5/2012 09:43 | Rather more appealingly for Tempus, technology firm Spirent Communications trades on 15 times earnings which, given its markets, is not bad. Revenues gained 16% in the testing division in the first quarter - the kind of growth not to be sneezed at. Buy. | broadwood

02/5/2012 11:39 | The long term investment plans of our customers for the development of the latest data technologies is directed at areas such as mobile internet, cloud computing and global positioning. Spirent's strategy is to focus on these growth markets working closely with our customers to enable them to bring these technologies to market even faster, with higher quality and reliability. Further growth opportunities for Spirent's major division, Performance Analysis, also arise from our expansion into new addressable markets, from strategic acquisitions, such as Mu Dynamics, Inc. announced in April, and our strong position in the Asia Pacific region. All of these drivers are very positive for Spirent's future and will support our continued growth through 2012 And in particular; We are pleased to report that trading performance for the period is ahead of the Board's expectations. | broadwood

02/5/2012 09:52 | A great set of numbers imo. This company & management really seem to know how to build solid growth and are concentrating on the correct areas of technology. Have held for a while and expect a good run up now to 200p once press/media start reporting on these encouraging results. Note the 2nd half of 2012 they are expecting stronger revenue. good luck all, DYOR etc. CM | cheaky monkey

19/3/2012 21:53 | Petersinthe market - It was changed from open access to subscriber access but I have a copy! GROWTH COMPANY INVESTOR Spirent Communications - BUY Fully listed telecommunications testing concern Spirent Communications (SPT) declared a 10% rise in pre-tax profits amidst strong growth in its Japanese business. The Crawley-headquartere In an interview with Growth Company Investor chief financial officer Eric Hutchinson remarked that the company had seen a 'high growth rate' in its Japanese business, arguing that as a whole there was 'very strong demand' from the Asia Pacific region. Looking ahead he declared the strongest markets would be in Asia and Latin America, noting the company had already seen 'solid growth' in territories including Japan and India. Analysts at Numis are forecasting pre-tax profits of $137.9m (EPS: 14.4 cents) on sales of $566.2m for the year to December 2012. A dividend of 3.16 cents (2p) is also pencilled in. Currently trading just short of a 52 week high Spirent is a company that has benefited from its increasing exposure to overseas markets, in particular Asia where a number of its devices have gained ground in local territories. With a hefty cash pile the possibility of future acquisitions looks likely, while a small dividend adds to its appeal. Buy. | grigor
