08/3/2011 10:12 | whilst its up today i cant help thinking that it would be £21+ by now of it were a more "fashionable" stock. however i am going to hold on to these as i see limited downside, plenty of potential upside if the market wakes up to them a bit more, a clearly well-managed company, and im in for 3% in dividends over the next few months. m | maurillac
08/3/2011 08:52 | Can't complain...... .....except there won't be another chance to increase holdings for a while. apad | apad
08/3/2011 08:04 | spx beat all forecasts as far as i can see ! also cash back to shareholders of 25p via special dividend and intentions to carry on returning cash. 34m cash in balance sheet. 12% increase in turnover = 57% increase in pre tax profit. eps +33%. divi up 19% + 25p special divi. stonking good results imho. what a good start to the day ! m | maurillac
06/3/2011 15:51 | Fun aint it! Checked out the website for careers: I like the vacancies metric. Healthy(ish) amount, particularly China. Not as outstanding as RSW before their results produced the nearest thing to an orgasm that Mr. M can manage. apad | apad
05/3/2011 18:05 | apad i just have have a feeling that they may beat that eps forecast and this will break £20 again next week. not long to find out either way. m | maurillac
05/3/2011 12:15 | Forecast EPS is about 106p which would bring the PE down to about 18. Unless SPX does better than this Mr. M will be unimpressed. I think this is the key metric. The company had net cash last time I looked at the figures. W... if the computer let it through then no human will ever know of care whether it was correct or not :-) m .. if the market has knowledge that we don't then the price will move on Monday - don't forget that it was £20 at the beginning of Jan. I don't think spx is a day trader's type of share. apad | apad
04/3/2011 22:47 | looking good again today apad. i think we are off that plateau ! glad im still holding - more to come i think. so glad im not a daytrader ;) m | maurillac
04/3/2011 15:08 | THR has ASX listing its okay for isa EDIT....Hmmmn thanks for the heads-up on this APAD, perhaps my broker's systems have let this slip thro the net. It is classed as a "Chess Depositary" in Oz and might not qualify for UK isa. Online dealing allowed this stock thro when an attempt to buy SOU failed. | worrier
04/3/2011 15:05 | THR in ISA? Thought you couldn't? Do you know the definition of a gold mine as: "A hole in the ground with a liar standing next to it?" apad | apad
04/3/2011 12:38 | lol bloody traders ;) good luck with thr ! m | maurillac
04/3/2011 12:35 | Don't normally day-trade but did sell this am - sorry all you SPX long holders out there, but I feel this share is more appropriate to the risk profile my share club would look for, so will recommend it there if the share price doesn't get ahead of itself. Small profit taken off the table, and straight into Thor Mining THR in the isa. Might regret it. GL all. Worrier | worrier
03/3/2011 09:49 | i bought a few thr this am - expecting big things there ;) have a good day steve m | maurillac
03/3/2011 09:35 | I was up de bonne heure but was transfixed - couldnt stop refreshing the toplist percentage gainers screen as I had a couple of miners on there - they move fast. so missed the first SPX trades - but the breakfast mark-ups can work both ways some days as we know. not worried. | worrier
03/3/2011 09:23 | hey worrier you need to get up in the morning - early bird catches the worm ;) m | maurillac
03/3/2011 09:22 | of course ;) i note so very little interest in this one around the boards with pi`s. very unfashionable atm i suppose but nothing wrong with investing in companies with good fundamentals imho. m | maurillac
03/3/2011 09:19 | Bagged a small holding at 1886. Following the smart traders. With interest rates being as low as they are, this seems a safe haven for a while, we'll see. not worried | worrier
03/3/2011 09:17 | m.. Can't miss then! Two talents as great as ours - it's a cert. :-) apad | apad
03/3/2011 09:05 | i bought some just after the open today at 18.39. i looked at spx about a year ago when they were c £12 - i was having a break from the markets at that time so didnt pursue it unfortunately ! unless they miss with their results (which i very much doubt) they look like a good investment with limited downside. hopefully will be the next leg up ! m | maurillac
03/3/2011 08:56 | m.... topped up yesterday morning £18.46. Been holding this share for a while - I don't normally buy this close to results as the risk can be reduced in a short time (even if the reward might be less) - especially with the PER at a hefty 27. No debt last year. SPX are one of those engineers that get continuing business after selling kit (RR is the classic example). This, together with their technical competence and reputation acts as an enormous barrier to entry for competitors. They are only up 150% over two years (cf 400% for RSW). The share price tends to plateau and then trend up in regular cycles - we are either at the end of a plateau or this 2-year trend is over. I expect to hold this share forever. You may benefit from my own research if you wish :-) apad | apad
02/3/2011 22:41 | you be careful you don`t get filtered again ;) mines a pint ! m | maurillac
02/3/2011 21:58 | Hey Mauri you ramping on this one here as well !!!! Seriously though I will take a butchers and might go for a few if the downside is minimal. Multi-bagger stock this one.....not. If I bought, my brokers would give me a call to say that I could have made a "fat-finger" mistake as this steady stock is not normally seen in my portfolio. :-)) Off to the pub - getting an investment club together - now this will be their sort of share. Thanks Cheers S | worrier
02/3/2011 20:43 | hi apad. been watching this one recently & looking for a good entry point. it seems to recover any losses pretty quickly. most trades seem to be automated positions (some for just a few shares !). their track record in recent years is very good and looking at their results they have managed things well i think. results as you say due next week. may be worth tucking away a few imho. dyor nai m | maurillac
01/3/2011 16:22 | Trades over the last week mostly sells but the price is scrabbling back up from 1800. Anyone know why the price increases when shares are being sold? apad | apad
07/2/2011 22:13 | seems we did..ES hit 1317 level that i was aiming for a longer term short | jussyman |
