The Group has continued to benefit from the positive momentum experienced at the start of the current financial year and is trading in line with the Board's expectations.Trading remains strong with encouraging activity levels being seen in the market. UK and Ireland core hire revenue for August was c.4% ahead of the corresponding period in FY2020 (which is a more meaningful comparison than FY2021) and c.3% ahead for the year to date. Overheads remain tightly controlled.

https://www.fool.co.uk/investing/2021/08/05/2-penny-stocks-to-buy-3/A cheap UK penny stock on my radarAnother sub-£1 share I'm thinking of buying is Speedy Hire (LSE: SDY). I don't think its current price of 72p reflects the stock's exciting profits outlook. Today the tool, plant and equipment rental company commands a forward price-to-earnings growth (PEG) ratio of just 0.4.A reading below 1 suggests that a stock could be undervalued by the market. City analysts think annual earnings here will rise 37% this fiscal year (to March 2022) as the construction industry bounces back. I wouldn't just buy Speedy Hire because I think the sector should experience strong and sustained growth beyond the near term, though. I'm encouraged by the rate at which rental giant's winning share from its rivals. It recently signed major contracts with the likes of Network Plus, MWH and Horbury.I'm mindful of the fact that the stock is a highly-cyclical one. As a consequence its recovery could be derailed by the twin impacts of Covid-19 and Brexit on the domestic economy. Still, at current prices I think it could be considered too cheap for me to miss.

https://masterinvestor.co.uk/equities/small-cap-round-up-featuring-begbies-n-brown-circassia-and-more/Speedy Hire (LON:SDY) – a rapid purchaseI fancy these shares for another run upwards. As the lockdowns end, the construction, infrastructure and industrial markets are all queueing up to use the group's tools, equipment and plant hire services.Estimates suggest that £380m of sales (£364m) are possible this year to end-March 2022, with pre-tax profits rising from £20.1m to £28.0m, worth 4.2p in earnings (3.2p) covering a 1.9p dividend (1.4p) per share.Building sector analyst Charlie Campbell at brokers Liberum Capital rates the shares as a 'buy' looking for 90p in due course.Even though they have already achieved my price aim, I would not put anyone off if they are considering adding to holdings at the current 75p per share.

Nice positive write up in today's Evening Standard: https://www.standard.co.uk/business/speedy-hire-after-the-plant-and-equipment-specialist-b937163.html Liberum raises its price target from 80p to 90p.

Yep, which is why I picked up a few last month. Being new to sdy I've no idea whether the results are good bad or indifferent, but if my current 7% capital gain holds, I'll hang on to the shares and see how they develop in the run up to the ex divi date.

I doubt it personally, but one wonders why the date for final results has been delayed. They usually announce it in late March for mid May so it's well overdue. Could it be because of Covid once again or perhaps as you suggest there's a bigger announcement in the offing?

It's only sour grapes on my part derwent.I wish I'd had the gumption to buy HSS but I just didn't see any value...and still don't. Speedy soared like a firework in the last hour so a nice closing flourish to lift my day.

Well who'd believe that HSS Hire is the shining new star on the block with all its financial worries now a thing of the past? The share prize is buzzing with some on the thread positively salivating over a 60p share price by summer. I think they are misguided. During the whole pandemic Speedy has been sadly forgotten- there's no interest here whatsoever. Yet it's the only company in the sector to have consistently reported that trading has been 'well ahead' of expectations for eight solid months since September 2020. I just hope they come back with a knockout' full year result next month to reawaken the market. Speedy is still the same measly share price as it was 8 years ago in 2013 and I am losing my patience. Why is that? Have Russell Down and David Shearer been playing footsie under the table all this time? It's high time they produced results. I want to see the share price catapulted to at least £1 by June. Anything less I'd view as a big failure on their part.

Someone has been drip selling- it's been ceaseless all day! We can wave goodbye to breaching that 70p resistance anytime soon. After such a bullish TU i am surprised this has fallen so far. But there does appear to be a building momentum on the bid at 64.4p as we approach the close.

Had a little fling with HSS. Much more comfortable holding SDY. Price currently 70.4p so this is take two at testing that key initial 70p level. Volume is very light early on though. There were sellers in size at 70p the last time the price had a go on the 9th March. All imo DYOR

Some whoppers going through here including a 12.2m exchange. Chart sideways at the moment, rangebound. 14:18 Nibbled a few. Monster volume. All eyes on 70p and 73p IF sellers have been cleared here. It might need more time, always hard to say if they are done. All imo DYOR
