07/8/2006 10:01 | Yes market makers got it wrong. Not a single sale on the day if I remember correctly, just buys. They are on a p/e of 4.3 @ £1.75m stripping out exceptionals. The more accurate p/e is 3.8 (but that's zero tax charge & ignoring exceptionals) Even applying a 20% tax charge (likely next year) the eps is 4.7p & p/e is 4.8 With Wi-fi growing hand over fist & Internet growing significantly the ratio of these growth areas comnpared to payphones which was up from 5% to 22% at the interims is likely to soon become much more dominant. I notice the broker forecast is unchanged for next year at £2.5m pre-tax. | ![]() outsider

07/8/2006 09:45 | WINS were 21-26 SEYP were 19-24 TEAM were 19-24 now WINS 21-26 SEYP 21-26 TEAM 21-26 SCAP are 17-27 & out of it. So no change, (it's just that they are all in line) but first time since the overhang I would think, that SEYP have matched the bid with the others. | ![]() outsider

02/8/2006 21:29 | From the above I can see a lot of synergy with the iyonder acquisition, ie phones, internet terminals & wi-fi access seem no problem, which should fit in very well with Spectrum....and looks like may make significant savings...wired & wireless in a single system. | ![]() outsider
02/8/2006 21:13 | Internet Access Benefits Northumbrian Students According to The Times Good University Guide, Northumbria University is the "best new university" in the UK. This achievement is based upon assessments of the teaching, research, entry standards and graduate prospects at Northumbria. Reaching top place has been achieved by a continual focus on providing the best environment for students, which includes the development of one of the most innovative and efficient IT infrastructures. Northumbria has embraced IT as a tool to help students, and was one of the first UK universities to adopt Blackboard one of the leading educational enterprise software suites. Blackboard is an incredibly powerful tool for students, who can communicate with lecturers, access notes from all lectures and other online learning resources with this software. Remote access to resources is provided using a combination of Citrix and Desktop Anywhere tools, enabling students to work wherever they can get an internet connection. If Northumbria University was to make the best use of the IT-based learning resources, students would need to have internet access in their accommodation. New buildings would be fully cabled, but the university had a wide range of buildings in the city campus, ranging from 1860's style dwellings to 1990's steel framed multi storey structures. Cabling the existing buildings would be prohibitively expensive, so the university began a search for a suitable wireless system. The accommodation office and university IT department identified some demanding requirements for the system. Cost was of primary importance. Internet access which could be freely accessed in student rooms at minimum cost to students was required; any system which required a large payment from the students was deemed unacceptable. . Scalability was an important factor, as the system would be rolled out across several buildings, with new accommodation offering a wired system that should fit seamlessly with the wireless access provided in other buildings. Security was another major issue, as it was important that the system would offer protection for all PCs that were connected. Finally the university looked for a system that could provide a telephone service to the students' bedrooms, in addition to internet access. In 2004, Northumbria University selected iyonder as the successful supplier. Unlike large "hotspot" companies, iyonder was able to offer a customised installation that would be owned by the university. This would not only allow for the service to be funded with a small charge on the rent, but would also enable the system to provide additional revenue to the university which would charge conference visitors a daily fee to use the system. iyonder based the system equipment developed by Colubris Networks, one of the leading suppliers of Intelligent MultiService Wireless LAN systems. The Colubris technology offered a flexible, secure and scalable solution, with management of the users of wired and wireless access integrated into a single system. This technology meant that the accommodation office which had no in-house technical expertise could easily manage internet access for users without needed to worry about how they were connected to the network. The iyonder network was also used to provide telephone services to bedrooms, making use of the rapid development of VoIP technology. "The technology offered by Colubris allows us to install networks that provide the comprehensive features and robust security demanded by our customers," said Lloyd Rushton-Jones, iyonder Communications Director. "Colubris also offers comprehensive network management that allows mixed wired and wireless networks to be managed seamlessly, by people with limited technical knowledge. This is one of the keys to success for many of our installations." By the spring of 2005, iyonder had installed systems in three accommodation blocks, providing internet access to around 700 bedrooms. In September 2005, a new 300- bedroom accommodation building will be opened, which has been cabled throughout. Although the infrastructure is cable, the system has been connected by iyonder to the rest of the network, allowing a single management system to handle all internet access from the accommodation in the city campus. September will also see three buildings that were previously cabled and managed by the university IT services moved onto the iyonder network, saving the IT department time and money in managing the internet access from these facilities. It is expected that other accommodation buildings will be added to the network in the next few years. "When looking for suppliers, we had enormous difficulty in getting suppliers to understand our needs," said Valerie Nicholls, University Residences Manager. "iyonder offered a solution using Colubris Networks that more than met our expectations, whilst remaining incredibly cost-effective. Our students make extensive use of the service, and this helps us deliver the high-quality learning experience that was recognised by the recent award from The Times." | ![]() outsider
02/8/2006 21:06 | Extracts from a profile about Mr Lloyd Rushton-Jones, who it appears founded Iyonder. Profile: The figurehead and voice-box of iyonder's strategy, I have a diversity of experience in the technology sector spanning 10 years. A popular and familiar figure at wireless industry events, I would describe myself as tenacious, versatile and motivated - qualities that have seen me play a crucial part in the realisation of iyonder's vision, and in the company's impressive and rapid growth since start-up. I believe that mobility and communication are key in both my professional and private pursuits. The latter has already seen me run the London Marathon, trek over the Gondogoro La beside K2 and cycle through Laos. Last year a group of friends spent a week in the Dolomites and a week windsurfing on Lake Garda. This year I climbed in the Mont Blanc massif, incl. Mont Blanc itself. Prior to iyonder, I have over 5 years in senior CRM Consultancy for Financial Institutions and 2 years in Telecoms Analysis. Iyonder is a specialist in High Speed Wireless Internet for Corporate Leisure, Conferencing and Education; it has some of the largest, most credible and innovative 'hotspot' locations through such customers as the Radisson Edwardian, Clarendon Corporate Apartments, Northumbria University and Maustin Caravan Park. iyonder has made significant achievements in WiFi whilst still privately held since being founded in August 2002; it has established hotspots in over 50 locations, the large majority are in hotels and includes the largest full coverage wireless hotel in the UK. The company also boasts the first WiFi caravan park and some of the highest usage figures of WiFi. In all my pursuits, mobility and communication are key wherever and whatever the language and culture. | ![]() outsider
02/8/2006 20:18 | Having watched this stock over the last couple of months, I thought yesterdays "profit warning" would present me with a good top-up oppurtunity .. D'Oh. Despite several attempts throughout the day I wasn't able to buy within the spread and ended up paying the full ask price for my top up. Makes you wonder what the Ask might have been if a positive RNS was issued?!? | aaargh
02/8/2006 18:37 | I reckon I'm getting the Internet & Wi-fi business which I imagine will be responsible for about £8.5m* turnover this year (2006-7) for arguably a p/e of circa 3.5, if this business was quoted separately I imagine it would be on a p/e of about 20 or 25. Fortunately the mature phone business, is weighing the rating down heavily, but also funding expansion, & paying off debt & even that contains growth elements such as, ATM's, advertising, Microcells & Wi-fi, to arrest decline. I don't know about others, but in 25 years of investing, this share has me excited....for that reason I have put my money where my mouth is & bought 150,000 shares so far. (* 400% growth was reported at interims making £2.1m...... organic growth was 58%......therefore I assume circa £5m t/o for 2005-6 including acquisitions..... at 50% organic growth this year .....would be £7.5m + £1m for Wi-fi (before insignificant) would be £8.5m.....that figure excludes further acquisitions of course, which are likely in my opinion.) | ![]() outsider
