01/9/2014 17:36 | Solooiler it's a U.S. domiciled stock. | battlebus2
01/9/2014 17:35 | Hi jans3, not unusual it's a w8-ben tax with holding form basically because it's a U.S. stock and different taxes for dividends etc depending on your nationality. Any broker i've used to buy the stock let you buy at the time then send out the form later to be filled in, i've even bought from HL and haven't been asked to fill the form as yet. You should have been able to buy first, i'd check back with them if i were you. | battlebus2
01/9/2014 17:31 | Ooh OK :0)! Jans go and tell Hargreaves Lansdowne that they have lost their marbles :0]. This is a UK stock!!! I didnt have to fill any forms :0S. I think they are wrong and only need correcting | solooiler
01/9/2014 17:21 | Hi all, wanted to buy in this afternoon but Hargreaves Lansdowne informed me that as this is a USA stock I have to download a form, sign it and send it back to them; bit annoyed as can see the price rising significantly by the time I get my permission to buy. Is this essential or is it just HL? | jans3
01/9/2014 10:47 | Nice one El1te. The cash on the balance sheet really helps. Should be profitsble this year while we see what the outcome of the Aeris trails. | stewy_18
01/9/2014 10:11 | Elite - Thanks for the writeup. I'll ask what everyone else is thinking... what are the other two? Pel? | allstar_07
01/9/2014 09:50 | Cheers battlebus/fozzie. As we all know, the potential with Aeris is significant and the economics appear very attractive, so that supports the confidence they have. As fozzie notes, should just be a case of waiting for management to continuing to progress on several fronts. Only 2 other companies come close to SPSY in terms of value and risk/reward at the moment and I'd probably place SPSY second in that list although it's of course subjective. However, since I've scanned the majority of small companies on AIM, that's clearly impressive. What makes SPSY so attractive from my perspective is that even if Aeris is unsuccessful for whatever reason, there is a very strong balance sheet and interesting underlying business that would protect against downside up to an £18m market cap in my opinion. Essentially, Aeris' potential is surplus, but potentially substantial surplus. I'm pretty sure the value of IP in the intangibles does not reflect fair value either, so plenty of opportunities. Great board here too with many seasoned investors with sensible comments and good contributions to the discussion Best, El1te Solooiler - ~650 | el1te
01/9/2014 09:28 | I am oot :0|! | solooiler
01/9/2014 09:07 | Only 13000 bought, hardly a stampede so i am guessing not Pat. A very good article Elite, thanks. Just sit back and enjoy the ride i hope. | fozzie
01/9/2014 09:04 | I suspect a few have bought this morning after reading Elite's write up and realising the potential here. | battlebus2
01/9/2014 08:55 | Is that reason for today's rise? | patviera
30/8/2014 21:58 | Thanks Elite. I appreciate all your time and effort, an excellent write up as ever. | battlebus2

11/8/2014 10:44 | "Spectra hosts officials from the Central Bank of Indonesia for a preliminary round of testing of its Soiled Banknote Cleaning Technology. The Board is delighted to announce that representatives of Central Bank of Indonesia will be at Spectra Systems on July 27(th) and 28(th) to perform tests in conjunction with our staff to evaluate the performance of the company's Aeris(TM) technology which uses supercritical CO(2) to clean soiled banknotes. " We might be due some news soon on how the trials progressed. | aishah
04/8/2014 14:14 | The machine that Spectra currently has is a prototype, but must be (near) fully operational since it is being used in the number of testing programs with central banks, that have been announced. Obviously, those testing programs could not be pursued if the prototype didn't work as intended. They showcased the prototype at the banknote conference As per this RNS, ,Spectra are setting up to build a machine that is fully functional and capable of running as if it was just sold to a customer - i.e. any final kinks knocked out, and ready to operate El1te | el1te
04/8/2014 14:07 | Thanks El1te. Another question, does this machine exist as a prototype or does it still have to be built? | mrx9000
04/8/2014 14:04 | Nope - the technology works on polymer notes. See post 355 El1te | el1te
04/8/2014 13:56 | Am new to this thread, so a quick question to start off with... Banks are starting to bring out Polymer bank notes which stay cleaner for a long time. If everyone adopted these Polymer notes than the new bank note cleaning technology is obsolete? Thanks in advance. | mrx9000
02/8/2014 18:26 | Has anyone got latest 75p note on spsy plse? | patviera
24/7/2014 12:43 | "The contract will result in the delivery of the first system in November 2014 and has specified unit costs for two types of systems that are suited for 300,000,000 and 600,000,000 banknotes per year, respectively. The units are being designed for a ten year life cycle with routine preventative maintenance." regards | rainmaker
24/7/2014 12:13 | "We are optimistic that the very positive results we have achieved with the various central bank cleaning tests" great news | patviera
24/7/2014 11:19 | Yes, looking good for 2015. Hinted at successful trails, so I reckon once the have the patent and the machine is developed, the banks will be queueing up. Should be profitable this year without this, so things looking good. Looks like Cool Clean technologies have some real experience behind them so I think the future looks bright. | stewy_18
24/7/2014 10:43 | And there it is El1ite- TIDMSPSY TIDMSPSC RNS Number : 1713N Spectra Systems Corporation 24 July 2014 July 24, 2014 Spectra Systems Corporation ("Spectra Systems") Partnership with Cool Clean Technologies for Design and Delivery of Production-Ready Aeris(TM) Banknote Cleaning Systems Spectra Systems has executed a contract at a cost of $400,000 with Cool Clean Technologies of Eagan Minnesota for the development of a fully productized Aeris(TM) system using supercritical CO(2) to clean soiled banknotes. Cool Clean Technologies is a market leader in the use of CO(2) fluid systems for extraction and cleaning applications in the medical, aerospace, defense, and semi-conductor industries. Their knowledge of high pressure vessel design and worldwide variations in safety design requirements will ensure that the units are compliant with all geographical industry standards. The system will incorporate temperature and pressure ranges and ease of use specifications arising from both our operational experiences as well as from central banks that recently performed testing on-site at Spectra Systems' facilities. The contract will result in the delivery of the first system in November 2014 and has specified unit costs for two types of systems that are suited for 300,000,000 and 600,000,000 banknotes per year, respectively. The units are being designed for a ten year life cycle with routine preventative maintenance. Nabil Lawandy, Spectra System's CEO, stated: "We are extremely excited about partnering with Cool Clean Technologies after many discussions with other suppliers over the last six months. Their team brings a balance of innovation, reliability and price point which are all critical to winning our first customers. We are optimistic that the very positive results we have achieved with the various central bank cleaning tests, along with the operator-friendly system being developed to our specifications by Cool Clean Technologies, will position us to introduce the technology at a central bank facility in 2015." 22/7/2014 09:27 | V promising announcement this morning and highlights the potential from a further area for long term growth as stewy noted above. SPSY offers excellent value, especially when one considers the strength of the balance sheet. WH Ireland agree:- "SPSY has announced encouraging news this morning about its product authentication offering a non-exclusive contract in China and an exclusive contract in South Korea with respectively two suppliers of product authentication services in Asia. These technologies enable the consumer to authenticate products using their smartphones, and at the same time provide a valuable data tool for the owners of brands. We expect that clothing and spirits will be among the FMCG product groups which will particularly benefit from this technology. We view this is an innovative technology which has compelling practical applications and which we believe will provide an important new service to the Asian market. In financial terms, the announcement suggests a US$100k benefit to the FY2015E bottom line, based on a mix of license fees, paid annually, and minimum annual orders. We will be publishing our 2015E forecasts in due course, and in relation to today's announcement note the significant growth potential which is envisaged for the new product in 2016E and beyond. This morning's news follows on from a series of positive announcements on SPSY's banknote cleaning technology, which is now being tested by four major banks, including the Central Bank of Indonesia, serving one of the most populous countries in the world. There is no change to our 2014E forecasts, however we believe the share price is still well underpinned by US$14m of net unrestricted cash (and $US2.5m of restricted cash). We retain our BUY recommendation and 40p price target. Regards, GHF | glasshalfull |
