No probs. If they say yes, you will probably have to fill out the W8-BEN form and send that in first. This is what I had to do with Selftrade before I could buy SPSY there.

bains123 - Hargreaves Lansdown allow the purchase of SPSY in an ISA. Here is the response I got from them:

"I can advise that Spectra Systems Corporation (LSE:SPSY) is available to be purchased on the HL Vantage platform. It is eligible to be purchased in an ISA, SIPP and Fund and Share account. In order to place a deal please call our dealing desk on 0117 980 9800. Alternatively, the stock will be available to deal on-line in due coruse.

However, before we can purchase shares in American incorporated stocks, you will be required to complete a WB-BEN form. This form must be sent into our offices and registered on your account before we can execute any trades in American listed stock. You can download a WB-BEN form from our website."

Just emailed them now and asked for clarification. It seems like non-sense!

Since the primary listing of the company is in the UK, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to have it in an ISA. The company is US-based, but it's UK-listed and doesn't have a listing anywhere else.

Thanks for that protean. I will email barclays.

I don't have any in an ISA, but I can do a dummy buy in the Selftrade ISA and it looks as if I can purchase them there. Although I can't be sure.

It's certainly a US company but is listed in the UK and doesn't have a dual listing.

Here's an article on the subject that might help:

Just tried to buy some more stock into my isa acccount but was not allowed with barclays.

Phoned them up and after some discussion they confirm that SPSY cannot be held in ISA as is a US company.

Is that stupid or what?

Anyone else managed to buy into isa account?

Stewy,

I got that info from their website hxxp://www.spectra-science.com/ under investor relations and latest results.

My opinion is that the company is worth much more than current value and should be re-rated soon.

I agree that the ceo has one hell of a salary and should buy more shares here to show his confidence.

Bains123,

Can you supply a link to the text you have posted? Is that a brokers note? I have contacted WHIreland for their latest brokers note but it is from April 2012.

Tried to do a background check on Nabil M. Lawandy. He seems to check out:-

hxxp://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/people/person.asp?personId=3346107&ticker=SPSY:LN&previousCapId=3240785&previousTitle=Spectra%20Systems%20Corporation

hxxp://www.twst.com/interview/16451

But $450,000 is one hell renumeration package for the CEO of a £8 million market cap company.

I'll do some more digging. What are these "Removal of Restrictions From Common Stock" RNS's all about??

Prospects
The long awaited execution of a development contract
with a G8 central bank for new generation technology
has proceeded on or ahead of schedule and is expected
to lead to significant multi-decade revenue streams once
adopted. We expect to realize significant additional
development revenues next year as well as gain more
insight as to the adoption timetable as we and the customer
successfully progress through large‑scale tests.
2012 materials volumes were significantly higher than
previous years and we expect this growth trend to continue
in 2013, aided by a central bank issuing a new denomination
during that period. We expect this increased demand to
allow us to leverage improved margins from our in-house
manufacturing facility which is now available to our customers
and is expected to be inspected by our principal G8
customer in Q2 of 2013.
Our partnerships with suppliers of public features have
led to new opportunities. The Reserve Bank of India tender
remains unresolved, although continues to be a live prospect
for the Company. Other new significant opportunities
include tax stamps as well as a Level II feature for a G8
passport, both of which we expect to have a decision
for in 2013.
In addition to our core banknote business, we have made
significant advances towards adoption of our lock and key
technology by a major consumer appliance manufacturer.
During 2012 we delivered prototype sensors integrated into
their consumer appliance and developed customized inks
for all their suppliers in the United States of America, China
and Korea which do not use the same types of printing
processes. We are optimistic that we will arrive at a business
arrangement in 2013 which will create a new materials
business line with the potential for many additional adoption
scenarios by the current target customer as well as by
other customers that will follow suit.
The Board therefore believes that the Company continues
to have excellent prospects and will perform strongly
in 2013.

Gents,

Something stinks here. Whats the catch? The barely made a profit in the last 5 years yet have £10 million cash on the balance sheet and market cap £8 million. Do you know the operating margins from this contract win? Share price barely moved since announcement. Looks like an AIM stinker!! Interested to hear other views.....

Regards

Stuart

they are so covert they share this stuff over email with random people they don't know from Adam ?

give me a break

there is a reason US firms list on AIM and usually it is the lack of regulation which means that if they tell lies or misrepresent they don't go to jail as they would if they did the same under the SEC's watch..

oh and the sea of gullible mug punters who have a history of falling for South Sea Bubble / Langbar b.s.

if it sounds too good to be true it probably is

remember crown corp / langbar ? $200m in cash in Brazil just waiting to be repatriated ? oh yeah all that was audited and above board

hmm
