03/1/2006 09:32 | ARGY, maybe... but go back to last April when the downtrend was suddenly reversed just before the long suspension, and the company issued a statement that it was in reverse-takeover talks. That came to nothing, but it emphasises that the company is a bit leaky, and at that time the NAV was still sub-13p, so the shares were at a whopping premium. Now with a NAV of about 18p, we're at a substantial discount, and the price is approaching what I'd call fair value of 14-15p (~20% disc to nav). | ![]() jonwig

29/12/2005 14:20 | Hi coroon. I see Obelisk have directors in common with a subsidiary of European Diamonds (google search), but there's little else about them. More likely, though, they are just poste restants for Tynda, and there'll be a small brass plaque somewhere (or a white card - like you see in phone boxes...) to place the registered office. I seem to remember that most of the inhabitants of Sark were company directors, but knew nothing about their companies! | ![]() jonwig

28/12/2005 12:01 | and the directors will keep on buying IMO if we stay at a 50% discount to NAV....RNS today | nappers
27/12/2005 09:40 | Hi coroon, good to see you back. First reaction is that the increase will slow growth, assuming they don't want to start an inflationary cycle. Slower growth would be no bad thing for their economy! Provided they can manage the 're-entry'. As far as SOV goes, next year could be very productive. Their stated policy is and has been to realise profits, which they've done successfully this year, and the Tynda Forest stake could well be realised (at least in part) if it floats on AIM next year. Look at the increase of nearly 50% in NAV in about a year, and remember that their pile of cash will have been a drag on that. It's only the share price which has lagged, but with a few new investors on board, including hedge funds, the bet is that this will change. | ![]() jonwig
26/12/2005 14:18 | China raises natural gas prices by 50-150 yuan per 1,000 cubic meters - Xinhua BEIJING (AFX) - China has raised its natural gas prices for industrial and residential use by 50-150 yuan per 1,000 cubic meters, effective today, according to the official Xinhua news agency. The report, citing the powerful National Development and Reform Commission, also said natural gas prices for the production of fertilizer will rise by 50-100 yuan per 1,000 cubic meters. The report did not give an average percentage increase. Prices vary from city to city. The price for natural gas for industrial customers in Beijing is 1,900 yuan per 1,000 cubic meters and 1,800 yuan for residential users. The report also said that China will adjust its natural gas prices annually in line with crude oil price movements, although price changes will not exceed eight pct. Despite sharp movements in energy prices on international markets, China has been slow to adjust its natural gas prices, preferring to cushion the impact on the domestic economy. 24/12/2005 07:46 | Hi, Integer, The header has an asset value calculation, with cash estimated at 7p/sh. Obviously interest and expenditure will need to be taken into account. Regarding your questions: 1- it was 50p/sh (IIRC), placed by the brokers, I imagine; a large number of people had shares given them before the placing (Benchmark Group investors), some of whom have sold out. 2- a great mystery to all of us! But the drop from 50p (plus!) is history, and the anomaly now is a 50% discount to nav. The prospectus gives lots of clues: leave your e-mail address here and I'll send it to you. I'm in all day (and tomorrow), as I'm chef and wine waiter to the family. | ![]() jonwig
24/12/2005 00:50 | Merry Xmas all - interesting play this on the Far East. I reckon cash is currently 6.7p per share after assuming second half admin costs (less interest income) of around £75k. According to my calculations they have so far sold £633k of investments in H2 so should result in a decent realised profit for the full year. One issue puzzles me though having done some research:- On admission to AIM, the company issued 6,325,000 ordinary shares at 50p each (27.7% of the enlarged equity). Immediately following admission, the NAV was 12.77p. Prior to the issue of these, shares outstanding must have been 16,450,000. If anyone has access to the listing particulars (or otherwise) can they answer the following:- 1, What price where the 16.45m shares issued at, when and to whom if this was a start up company? 2, Why would institutions pay 50p each knowing that the NAV would immediately fall to 13p? (doesn't make any sense, perhaps including some value for the director's investment contacts but 37p? If this was a unit trust you wouldn't have invested at 50p right?) Just wondering if there is something going on behind the scenes. Hopefully those who have following the company from the start can assist. Thanks in advance... Copy of the prospectus would be nice as well I guess (anyone?) | ![]() integer

22/12/2005 09:23 | Interesting company, H-P. I don't see any means of putting a % stake* to their investment - ie. how many shares they've bought. I see it's 1.5% of the enlarged share capital. | ![]() jonwig
22/12/2005 08:45 | Theres some more info here although not much in the way of financial data. They say they are expecting to list on AIM in Q1/Q2 2006. Peter Hambro is involved with this company (name sounds familiar) | hugepants
