22/1/2006 08:40 | Nice article in the Observer about "Karen", the CEO of Bodisen, and the company. Dealings on AIM start on 6 Feb, apparently. I wouldn't be surprised to see another leg-up in the share price | jonwig
18/1/2006 17:09 | I see Concorde O&G closed at 4.50p - precisely a 100% return on the investment in one week. Adds about 0.24p to the NAV, but other stuff has dropped a bit. Nasty day - more to come? | jonwig
16/1/2006 11:47 | Nice quality info HP, Concord 3.88p up 24%. | milner2
15/1/2006 20:56 | There is now a Bodisen Biotech thread in anticipation of the AIM float As regards AOB I think the strong showing recently is to do with the bird flu scare. AOB is on a list of 20-30 "bird-flu stocks" and search I dont think AOB are developing any flu vaccine or anything similar but they do have a Chinese medicine subsidiary. Perhaps the assumption is that Chinese Medicine sales in China would go through the roof if there was a serious outbreak. | hugepants
15/1/2006 15:27 | Hi Milner - yes, Concorde O&G at 3.12p compared with purchase price of 2.25p - not bad for a week's work!. Have updated header values. Like jhan, I've sold a few of these, but see long term value in both SOV and the investee companies. Am likely to buy a few Tynda Forest on float, but we won't know until their listing document is published how much SOV paid per share. | jonwig
15/1/2006 13:56 | Emailed the CEO about Tynda's future listing, he always replies promptly, but as expected couldn't say anything due to the sensitivity of the subject, also asked him how Bodison Biotechs proposed listing on Aim would effect sov GEMS investment of 70,000 shares, no reply yet!. The Concord oil & gas investment looks to have been a canny deal....... | milner2
14/1/2006 09:39 | milner, there's nothing on Digital Look. I find them very useful, as they have a full list of floats announced and also those subject to press speculation but not actually announced. | jonwig
12/1/2006 10:44 | Hi, doe's anyone know when Tynda,is going to make its public listing general knowledge? I've been searching for info but have so far just found some funding news from www.moorestephens .co.uk. | milner2
11/1/2006 20:53 | NAV at 18.8p, this share is solid, investment are all doing well, can't ignore that fact, sov GEMS main aim is to invest in companies that have a growing influence in the domestic growth markets in china, recently china has announced that its growth has been underestimated for 2005 at 9.2% this is actually 10.00%. HRBN,BBC,AOB,i think will continue to grow............. | milner2
11/1/2006 16:38 | it's now doubled since Nov, though couldn't fathom out why it was so cheap back then. Worried now that MM's are drawing in buyers and will soon widen the spread. SOV is still an illiquid share | jhan66
11/1/2006 16:32 | 250k Buy at 14p, following on from the 100k yesterday. Is this a holding RNS or a director buy maybe ? | nappers
11/1/2006 15:51 | Getting a nice pop today - I do not think this is the CON investment today. More likely value investors coming in to narrow the NAV discount in what could be a hot sector this year - 100k T trade yesterday and maybe the same today. AOB also looks like it could be on a good bull run to new highs if the last few days continues..BOD also continues higher... | nappers
11/1/2006 13:37 | For anyone that is interested in Concorde, Starvest have a 44% holding and are valued at 50% of NAV.. | nappers
11/1/2006 12:16 | I quite like this investment. Its really speculative but SOV get a 5% stake in a Russian oil company with little risk to SOV shareholders since its only worth 1p of the NAV. But like all these types of investments could potentially rise in value hugely. Its the kind of investment the market seems to like just now. "Pechora Energy, a private Russian company, owns the Luzskoye Field situated in the Timan-Pechora Basin in the north-east of the Russian Federation. The field has been evaluated by a well known firm of independent oil industry consultant engineers. The mix of proved, probable and possible reserves matches Concorde's stated acquisition objectives......." | hugepants
11/1/2006 10:58 | Thanks John. Can't paste the chart into the header, though. This is what OFEX have to say about Concorde: Concorde Oil and Gas Plc (Concorde) is charged with the objective of identifying, acquiring and operating oil and gas opportunities in the Russian Federation. The Directors of Concorde have extensive experience in the oil and gas industry and also benefit from an extensive network of contacts developed from their time at the oil major, Texaco. Concorde will only pursue acquisitions that are in production or are discoveries with early production potential. It is considered that the acquisition premium required for this type of opportunity, where early cash flow is achieved, is preferable to the higher risk and longer- term nature of pure exploration. | jonwig
11/1/2006 09:16 | might also be info at www.unquoted.co.uk | jhan66
11/1/2006 09:02 | Hi john, NAV stated as 18.7p - I calculated 18.76p yesterday, so my model seems pretty robust. Do you (anyone) know how to access quote and chart for this new stock: I'm not into OFEX? | jonwig
11/1/2006 08:52 | no comment on the new investment?. hopefully we haven't bought oil at the top of a bubble, but seems like sound assets based NAV discount still around 35% even after recent rises. | jhan66
10/1/2006 07:51 | Bodisen to AIM is in The Times, today, too: | jonwig
09/1/2006 20:50 | Yes havent checked recently but today AOB is up over 8% to nearly 5$ on high volume. And HRBN up over 6% (on low volume!). NAV must be 19p now. | hugepants
09/1/2006 16:33 | I trimmed my SOV holding last week at a good profit. My plan was to exit from my only US $ stockholding and buy into AOB directly. Already liked what I read and thought if I can get in 10-20% under Sovgem I'd be pleased to run it alongside. extra diversity & liquidity, I figured. So damn annoying to see it rising every day since, without me. Haven't reached the right selling point on my other share yet. Maybe I should wait for Tynda. | jhan66
08/1/2006 11:09 | Good news though John. Bodisen stake (70,000 shares @ 15.43$) worth 2.7p of SOV's NAV just now. So its still a major investment. 70,000 * $15.43 = 1.1M US = 0.61M UK = 2.7p | hugepants
08/1/2006 07:37 | From the Telegraph: Chinese fertiliser group targets Aim By Edward Simpkins (Filed: 08/01/2006) A Chinese company that manufactures agricultural fertilisers is planning to list on London's Alternative Investment Market within the next few weeks with a value of more than £100m. Bodisen Biotech, which was named by Forbes Magazine as one of the 100 fastest growing companies in China, expects to raise about £10m from investors in London and Hong Kong when it comes to Aim. A pity we haven't many of these left: I imagine it will be a strong debut. | jonwig
03/1/2006 23:26 | Good volume today then. And discount to NAV narrowed now to 35%. | hugepants
03/1/2006 10:06 | Argy, I take it you follow watshot.com ;) and the other Winni stable of tip sites ;) :) | papalpower |
