They mention horizons with netpay of 65ft (20m). I suspect that will include the upper and lower Abu-Madi sands. Regionally, these sands have been prolific producers of gas-condensate, characterised by high flowrates and good level of liquids production.

But the real steal will be if we get oil in deeper levels. Amazed more folk have not picked up on this possibility. There were great hopes for oil at AEX, which helped momentum after the initial gas discovery announcement. The case for oil here is arguably greater and SDX have actually mapped the target horizons. Its a question of whether the black stuff comes in on prognosis or not.

What gives me confidence is subsurface VP Cameron Snow reviewed 3D data and he is modelling oil to be within the closure. CS was previously with Apache, who are one of the most successful onshore oil explorers in Egypt in recent years. He has a good knowledge particularly of the Western Desert plays.

There are 3 potential oil horizons, the first one is not that far from Abu madi section , so the company will know before the estimated 2 weeks if they have oil. With it being hard for Egyptians to keep anything secret news might start to leak. Next few trading days we may get sudden increase...

Seems like a similar response to when Hur got news only moved about 7p, even though news was very good, market wants to see actual flow test rates and production before any big move.

SDx should break 65p (IMHO) if oil discovered , otherwise it will slowly move up as we get more detail and then actual gas production over the next 3-4 months.

Gbp strength is weighing on the uk market and dragging most stocks back, a good report from the EIA at 1530 should help, uk oil stocks, following api last night.. a drawdown at Cushing would be nice (and EIA natural gas report on Thursday)

American Petroleum Institute late Tuesday reported a fall of 840,000 barrels in U.S. crude supplies for the week ended April 14, according to sources. The API data, however, also showed a climb of 1.4 million barrels in gasoline supplies, while inventories of distillates declined by 1.8 million barrel.


But all positive and going up mostly from here 😄.

Sorry for late reply, but no i am not getting the workovers/appraisals mixed up with the explo wells.

My understanding is that there are a total of 11/12 'mixed' wells to be drilled this year with some in the first half and the rest in the second half. I have not seen any schedule as to what is happening when. Just wondered if anyone knows what the timetable is?

Can't get a firm quote to sell any but can buy in size but have to pay 57.15, which is above the advertised price....what does this indicate as it appears contradictory?

just a misunderstanding then as when I said 3d accuracy I had in mind the paragraph which I highlighted in today's RNS; I agree with your investment strategy and am very happy to have added this morning and have already made (on paper) more on that than I would have in a year had I gone for a cash ISA instead!

what I was trying to say was that the most accurate seismic data and interpretation in the world does not tell you whether there is oil in the subsurface structure. The best it can do is tell you that there is a structure in place which, IF charged and sealed will contain oil. But that's a big IF.

There is still very substantial risk that the structures will be devoid of oil.

If your investment case depends on imminent oil discovery then it is, IMHO, flawed.

My own investment case here - and SDX is my biggest holding - is that the co has positive cashflow which will keep it going indefinitely, a portfolio of production assets which are capable of improved productivity/profitability and a sheaf of exploration prospects which should yield some success. I think that even without any oil being discovered in the next few weeks this is still a good place to be. Oil at S Disouq would be a bonus not a pre-requisite.

I'm sure you agree so am not trying to do an egg sucking lesson here. Just thhinking aloud.

With seven drills scheduled for the first half of this year, then five more in H2 should be plenty of newsflow over next few weeks.

But has anyone seen an exact timetable of what is to be drilled where and when?

...You're not getting workovers confused with new wells by any chance, are you?
