Once mining finally starts and lots of well paid jobs become available, one would expect other areas to want to get in on the act, as they realise that they will get left behind, while they see other areas attain first world levels of material goods, healthcare and schooling. But for now the reluctance of some tribal areas to extract buried wealth, will indeed make those areas open to mining more valuable.

So it's worthwhile spending a fair bit of time and effort involving the local population. (Some have seen that as a negative wrt SOLG.)

That's a very, very pertinent observation mate. I love that unique and yet obvious insight, obvious after someone's pointed it out of course!

That, surely, will make those already granted far more valuable?

Think I can answer my own question. The constitutional court can't reverse previous judicial judgements but it can rule on whether the Constitution has been breached by any new Central government powers and give remedy to that going forward. It looks like they have ruled central government don't have the power to grant mining licenses but can't reverse those already granted. However, it could have major implications for license extensions or drilling permits which have not already been granted.

Pob, as always, very informative article. Where does the constitutional court sit in the legal structure of Ecuador? My understanding was that past legal cases had failed because mining concessions we at the sole discretion of Central government and so local councils / referendum had no legal standing. This seems to reverse those previous rulings.

One to keep an eye on though Solgold is not exposed to this area and important to note it is forward looking and does not apply to exisitng concessions SOLG $SOLG $SOLG.L $CGP #cascabel #ecuador

"...INV Metals has taken heart from a new Constitutional Court decision in Ecuador, which has granted a referendum on banning mining activities but stated the result would not apply to existing concessions."

I am sure NM will have plenty of results for la Huelca and Porvenir before BHP come out to play .

Thanks for the correction Lowtrawler. You are correct in that the How to Tender section of the offer website states "5:00 P.M. (TORONTO TIME) ON OCTOBER 14, 2020. UNLESS THE OFFER IS ABRIDGED, EXTENDED OR WITHDRAWN."

Oddly I took the date from the Letter to Shareholders which states "SolGold’s offer expires on October 13, 2020." !!!!!

MK, photos and comments are good for raising expectations and excitement but are no substitute for the actual drill results. I expect most investors to shrug their shoulders at those. If initial drill results are good and match up to the photos / comments, it may accelerate views further on in the drilling process.

Pob, the offer actually expires 5.00pm Toronto time on the 14 October rather than 13 October.

Based on NM,s comments we should get photos and comments soon probably in the next few days for Porvenir and La Hueca.

MK,

Rio Amarillo, Porvenir and Blanca are all possibly significant. The veins at Blanca have gradings which suggest gold nuggets will be extracted. As previously discussed, they probably don't want to add value into CGP by formally exploring Blanca. La Hueca might be a good location for them to prove up and then sell on. As an open pit, it will require different mining techniques than Alpala, Porvenir or Rio.

I still believe we need patience as I don't expect the first Porvenir drill results until November and early November is also my view for the PFS. The first drill results won't prove anything and so think it will be the end of the year or January before anyone will confidently predict the size of Porvenir.
