I agree with EI. MACF in the same sector is being hit harder.

No it doesn't.

Mondi, International Paper, Westrock, SKG...etc.

It's a global sector sell off, in anticipation of the current
business cycle rolling over.

The market may be incorrect and there may be one last upswing left,
find out over the next few months.

DS share price is well below where it should be due to bexit negotiations, plus market manipulation to take advantage on way back up to 450p price. Bought in at 309 and what a bargain for 50k worth, even if it takes 6 months and doesn’t get back to 460, 470p per share until June 2019. What an opportunity!!! They are brilliantly placed and when they have sold their plastic businesses, as well as released the Portugal and French it’s after Europac purchase approvals by EU, watch it shoot massively upwards.

E-COMMERCE is about 10-12% of revenue for SKG, it should not be overstated,
although the segment is growing quickly.
Substitution of plastic may be where the main opportunity is.

The cardboard box sector has been heavily hit by fears of a cyclical turndown. Yesterday's numbers from DS Smith show the clear momentum to the sector being provided to box makers by E-Commerce. In my view, the likes of Smith, Smurfit and Macfarlanes should continue to prosper.

Had my eye on this for a long time. Now at a level that is worth dipping my toe in.Had a look at what it is like to work for and the negatives said that it's 'too busy'.That'll do for me.

'fraid I missed the boat - 312! However, no confidence of where it will end up today. Long term though, surely very good value .

Everything up. Perfectly good business, as it was 6 months ago and will be in 6 months time. But some chinese woman was arrested in Canada so sell everything. Down 6%! I question why I'm even in equities at this point, clearly newsflow is the only thing that matters.

Yes but you then repatriate your profits and a weak pound means foreign sales are especially valuable.

Nick, it's wider than UK companies - Mondi, International Paper, SKG... etc.
International Paper is valued at near 20 Billion USD. This is sector wide, global,
regardless of market cap.

Everything british that isn't a megacap multinational has been caned for the last 6 months because foreign investors have dumped stock at any price because the political risk is huge (hxxps://citywire.co.uk/funds-insider/news/investors-pull-10bn-from-uk-funds-since-brexit-vote/a1161632). And I don't blame them. We have literally no idea what the political/economic/regulatory/tariff environment is going to be like in 3 months time. There are just much better places to put your money than UK sterling earners.

Ds smith should be an exception of course because they have significant foreign revenue and operations but I don't think anyone is being particularly discerning at the moment.

Moorsie, would defer to your sector knowledge,
however fair also to mention the significant wider sector de-rating
of the last few months.

Probably a UT if it was timed 16.35 so not a single trade.

Interested in the results tomorrow.Packaging sector seems to be well oversold considering the growth ecommerce.
