04/6/2018 20:06 | Ditto. Interesting thought is whether it will help protect from an International Paper bid following the Smurfit Kappa rebuff or are the businesses sufficiently different? | bscuit

04/6/2018 19:49 | churchtower I totally agree and will be taking up my rights in full too. Suet | suetballs
04/6/2018 19:09 | Surprised at those who have exited at this stage. Shall continue to hold and take up rights in full. This Company in my view is an ideal longer term investment. | churchtower
04/6/2018 13:53 | ;-) I sold up first thing this morning having been a long term holder Hoping to buy back cheaper before the x rights day | phillis
04/6/2018 13:40 | Phillis - "your powers of comprehension are poor" haha, yes I did jump the gun by reading the Daily Telegraph first who got it completely wrong and didn't seem to understand the difference between a 'placing' and a 'RI' so now I've read the RNS and all is clear haha Moral is "Never believe what you read in the media" as each day passes I'm comming to think Trump was right, fake news haha. | losos
04/6/2018 13:31 | Losos your powers of comprehension are poor | phillis
04/6/2018 13:28 | It's a rights issue and terms will be disclosed with their figures (as per announcement). Probably something like 1:6 The Acquisition, DS Smith's transaction expenses and the refinancing of Europac debt will be financed from a rights issue to raise approximately GBP1,000 million (c.EUR1,148 million) net of expenses (the "Rights Issue"), which has been fully underwritten on a standby basis, and a new committed debt facility of EUR740 million (c.GBP645 million). DS Smith expects to publish a prospectus and launch the Rights Issue at the time of the announcement of its full year results in June 2018. | ianood
04/6/2018 13:24 | Phillis - "a rights issue is inclusive a placement not" So the poor PI's will not get a look in? What's the verdict for us, hold, add, or sell haha. It's a mighty big take over, slightest deviation from target and it could all go wrong. Still they have had a good record so far. Will be watching this thread carefully for views from other PI's. | losos
04/6/2018 10:16 | Thank you Phillis. Did not pick that up. | churchtower

04/6/2018 09:42 | It would be helpful to small shareholders if Management could release an indication as to their inclusion or exclusion in the proposed rights issue. | churchtower
04/6/2018 09:30 | From May: "The Board of Directors of the Europac Group has approved the accounts corresponding to the 1Q 2018, registering a net profit of Euro 25 million, 126% higher than in the same period the previous year, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network. Compared with the 1Q 2017, aggregate turnover was up by 13%, to Euro 318 million, while the consolidated and recurrent EBITDA figures rose respectively by 59% and 70%, amounting to Euro 49 and Euro 50 million, respectively. The increases in the sale price of paper and the downturn in the price of recovered paper used as the raw material led to an increase in the EBITDA Margin of 6.2 percentage points, standing at 21%. Meanwhile, the consolidated EBIT was Euro 37 million, almost double the figure achieved a year ago. Europac Chairman, José Miguel Isidro, stated: "This is the best quarter in the company's history, although it should be borne in mind that the result is being compared with the 1Q 2017, a year which began slowly before ramping up. Compared with the final quarter of 2017, the result reflects the gradual trend of sustained growth within a market context that has progressively improved quarter by quarter". In this regard, the increase in recurrent EBITDA was 18% compared with the last quarter of 2017. The Europac Group is an integrated operator with activities in all areas of the paper and packaging industry value chain, from end-to-end waste management and forestry operations for the procurement of the raw materials necessary for the production of recycled paper and kraftliner at the Group’s plants in Spain, France and Portugal, to the manufacture of cardboard sheets and boxes as end products." | mirandaj

18/5/2018 10:08 | Any specific news driving up the price today? Yet another welcome move up :-) Cheers, PJ | pj fozzie
08/5/2018 17:46 | Interesting article in today's The Times, suggesting that DS Smith is set to benefit from the 'Anti Plastic' focus that seems to be sweeping the retail sector at the moment. DS Smith is well positioned to provide card based alternatives for packaging solutions that have traditionally been done in plastic. I can't argue with the logic of that! Cheers, PJ | pj fozzie |
