Sold out in August, but am i right in believing smc turn over 3x AUK yet AUK have no debt. AUK market cap 3x SMC. How can a merger be good for SMC share holders. Would it not be better to sack thoughs responsible for this dilema, caused due to the policies of expantion at all costs, even profit.

motivation within the company must be getting very low - employees must see this going down the pan and any quality staff will be relocating as fast as they can. And who on earth would want to employ them as architects when there is a fear of going bust half way through the project?

Sorry to be negative - I got stung badly on these early in the year, and I would also like to see McColl lose every penny. My sympathy for any holders.

If AUK buy SMC what happens to our shares?

Or are we looking at a merger here?

as far as i am concerned there is no point in me selling at these prices when i got in at circa 90p unless to use against capitol gains else where. I have now written this off untill positve news and sentiment return to the share, luckily i did not put to many eggs in this basket and am making some modest gains else where with better prospects, hopefully it will not be to long before i recover losses hear from investing elsewhere.

Good luck to all.

K

if shares price drop more 50% at high history price, must sell at all.
it is tread book (university teach student ...) say.
so not buy.
but this price is very lower at 15p, maybe hold only.

Hi Gary,

Haven't spoken in a while. Im not in SMC at the moment and took a pretty big hit on this one earlier in the year. IMO, its hard to judge where the share price will go. I thought that there was some kind of support around 18p but that has been breached. With the possibility of the merger, who knows where this will go. Am tempted to get in at these prices although to be honest with you the debt is extensive, and if the merger isn't properly managed, SMC could end up bringing AUK down with them.

I think underneath it all, there is long term value in SMC (I know they are winning contracts left right and centre but have no idea of the profit being made).

Another thing is that Kier Chiefr Exec recons the construction boom will continue for at least another 3 years. If thats the case, then that gives potential for SMC to get things together and set up a profitable business which could lead to a buyout (should the current merger fall thorugh).

One final thing is that SMC bosses may need to merge the company to stop it from going under. I know AUK don't have any debt so in that case the debt that SMC have would be shared. As a result of sharing debt with AUK, you have to question what bargaining power SMC will actually have with the merger and the terms that are likely to be given are more than likely to be in AUK's favour. IMO, AUK is looking like more of a buy than SMC because if the merger fails, their share price is likely to increase and if the merger happens then their shareholders are likely to get better terms than SMC's.

Hi Guys

Do you think there will ever be a good time to buy these shares again?

Still reckon there's a good business here but the debt is crippling. There's also the question of whether they're going to merge with Aukett or find new top management.

Number one worry wrt to whether people will recover their losses is the risk of dilution or unfavourable merger terms.

i have done 4 trades this year and lost on all of them. currently down 90%. what a crock of sh*t this share has been. having said that i agree with some posters that the share price will eventually recover and i will get most or all of my money back - however i am not expecting this for at least 2 years now :-(
