16/11/2006 15:55 | Garth, Thanks for the clarification. Regards | awilson
16/11/2006 15:36 | If you compare this comment from today's announcement with the more detailed piece I posted yesterday I think you will see some synergy: "The National Entitlement Card Scheme in Scotland was seeking to put in place a framework agreement to allow for the purchase of smartcards for use throughout the Scottish public sector. The smartcard will be one way to access a National Citizen's Account to give citizens easier access to public services. With the introduction of the Scotland-wide free bus travel scheme for older and disabled people on 1 April 2006 and a new transport concession for younger people by January 1, 2007, the Scottish Executive took the opportunity to add this entitlement onto the card by way of an ITSO(TM) compliant transport application. The Scheme had to ensure that Mifare cards and the more sophisticated JCOP cards (with Mifare 4k emulation) can interact with the new ITSO(TM) compliant ticketing machines that are currently being installed on buses across Scotland." | garth
16/11/2006 15:03 | Awilson, not sure why yesterday was a 'disappointment' unless you can see something in the ERG announcement that I can't? ERG are supplying ticketing equipment that is ITSO compliant. To be ITSO compliant it must carry an ISAM. Ecebs provide the ISAMs....... Good news indeed today though. Glad for the opportunity to have been able to top up. G. | garth
16/11/2006 14:22 | Cool ! good news at last ! | rcktmn
16/11/2006 14:17 | Good news today, still not bought into these looks like last week was the low. | balcony
16/11/2006 14:05 | After yesterday's disappointment, the contract news today is uplifting. | awilson
15/11/2006 16:26 | Pyman, and from the ERG website itself: "ERG Transit Systems Selected as Preferred Supplier of Electronic Ticket Machines to Stagecoach Scotland ERG Transit Systems (UK) Ltd announced today that it has been selected as preferred supplier by Stagecoach to supply ERG's ITSO conditionally certified fare collection solution for Stagecoach bus operations in Scotland, in a deal expected to be worth more than £2.3 million. After an extensive appraisal process of all potential vendors, ERG's TP5000 Electronic Ticketing Machine and TRACS Depot software, including wireless LAN capability, were selected. In late 2005 ERG was included in the framework agreement by the Scottish Executive to be an official supplier of ticketing equipment to operators taking part in the Scottish National Concessionary Travel Scheme. "I am delighted with this news so soon after the announcement concerning our conditional ITSO certification. We will continue to provide the highest level of service and support as a key supplier to Stagecoach in Scotland", said Jay Prothero, Managing Director of ERG Transit Systems (UK) Ltd. The roll out of approximately 1,600 ticket machines and 40 depots will take place across Scotland during the remainder of 2006." | garth
15/11/2006 16:15 | pyman, This is the piece you cite: Your reading of it seems entirely fair - but I suspect that that is down to incomplete journalism and political jostling rather than a change in the position of Ecebs. If you look at these items it appears that ERG are supplying ITSO compliant ticketing equipment to the Scottish executive and are one of 4 companies doing so: "The equipment is initially for use with the older and disabled person's concessionary travel scheme but in the future will also be used for the younger person's concessionary fares scheme." www.itso.org.uk/cont Slide 18 lists the 4 suppliers of ITSO compliant equipment. To ensure ITSO compliance Ecebs will need to supply an ISAM for every reader that ERG install. The Scottish Executive have already issued hundreds of thousands of ITSO compliant entitlement cards for concessionary travel. It is therefore hard to see what the Shetland trial is about - unless it is simply a trial of new ERG equipment, or a trial of touch-and-go...... Any thoughts would be appreciated. G. | garth
15/11/2006 13:46 | erg group just got cintract to roll out smart cards accross scotland public transport- they operate in hong kong and other places - article in marketing week. Does this mean SMRT have missed out on their home market???? | pyman
14/11/2006 23:48 | Igoe, You say: "YEP GARTH your trading decisions and annoucements are not good at the moment." Not sure how much you really know about my trading decisions..... I never said anything about an announcement - I said that there was to be a profile of ITSO key players in a broadsheet.... I added some SMRT on friday. They are now higher than when I added. Can't say which direction they will go next.... As for my investment decisions, my largest holding over the last 12 months was TFC. Having taken profits at 70p it actually outperformed what my holding would have been this year in IGP. You can't be in everything. But thanks for taking so charitable an attitude Igoe - remind me to add you to my Christmas list. G. | garth
14/11/2006 19:25 | garth - 20 Oct'06 - 11:37 - 183 of 229 Looks like 14th November could just prove a good day to be holding. Put it in your diaries...... ;0) Shhhhhh... YEP GARTH your trading decisions and annoucements are not good at the moment. you sell igp, and they rocket UP. AND you buy smrt and they go down, maybe you should take up bingo, instead of investing. LOL | igoe104
14/11/2006 12:29 | Garth, re your post 183, 20th October:- "Looks like 14th November could just prove a good day to be holding. Put it in your diaries...... ;0) Shhhhhh..." I did. Did I miss it? Maybe you were referring to 14/11/2007? Arch | archa
13/11/2006 20:35 | thanks for that, niggle! Im a novice here but didnt put it for xmas spending ! Went for some (isa able )stocks in AIP. No doubt Ive bought them at the top, though. | splandyandy
13/11/2006 10:38 | Conversely, I added a few more on friday. They were doing well (and profitable) at the 6 months point and released guidance in September that they would meet expectations...... That puts them on about 20X historic but I can live with that on the basis of forecasts. G. | garth
13/11/2006 09:03 | spland, ahh the point of capitulation! You know you have sold at the bottom don't you?, or is the real reason that you need some spends fot Christmas? | niggle
11/11/2006 12:18 | i'm out of here. Sold my 22k shares today .Cant watch it go south any longer but will still watch as the concept has massive growth potential. Good luck if you're still ion there | splandyandy
10/11/2006 23:23 | Bank extends contactless payment project RBS signs up 1,500 for trial... By Steve Ranger Published: Thursday 9 November 2006 The Royal Bank of Scotland is extending its trial of contactless payments technologies. RBS has been running the first Maestro PayPass trial in Europe at its Edinburgh headquarters and now plans to extend the project to its London offices to further showcase the technology. PayPass works much like the Oyster card on the London Underground - users place the card on a reader in retail outlets to make payments for low-value items such as coffee or a newspaper. An RBS spokesman told silicon.com: "The early signs around the success of our Edinburgh pilot are very encouraging from both consumers' and retailers' points of view. silicon.com Financial Services Get the latest financial services news straight to your inbox. Sign up for the FS newsletter today! "In the meantime, we've extended the RBS internal trial to one of our key London locations, which provides a further opportunity for us to gain feedback on contactless payments from our staff." According to MasterCard, which provides the underlying technology, a time-and-motion study of the Edinburgh trial - which covered six outlets including a Starbucks, a restaurant, a delicatessen, a chemist and a social club - found that Maestro PayPass could halve the time for a cash transaction, making a payment possible in less than five seconds. The RBS spokesman added: "More than 1,500 members of our staff have signed up for the trial, and based on the positive feedback we have received, we are in talks with MasterCard and other card issuers with a view to trialling the contactless cards in another UK location." | garth
10/11/2006 17:07 | Could just be the fall out from AIM stock disenchanment which is affecting the microcaps far worse than others. Too small for anything very much | chairman2
10/11/2006 15:56 | Valued at just 9X next year's forecast earnings..... and 2X 2008's (to be treated with some caution IMO, I reckon we'll see those levels a year or two later but that is pure speculation) G. | garth
10/11/2006 15:43 | Yes it could bounce very quickly from here imho | niggle
10/11/2006 13:45 | A dip often precedes good news as mm's try to panic pi's. Anyway, I've topped up (showing as a sell). | boadicea
10/11/2006 12:18 | Just got more expensive to buy (2.7p up from 2.6p) G. | garth
10/11/2006 12:16 | rcktmn, what bad news could be anticipated? As Awilson has said - the company have already told us that they will meet expectations. The only likely downwards pressures I can see are: - bored holders selling - placing of more shares They are a profitable micro-cap with existing revenue streams. The only place for bad news would be the Government suddenly deciding they are going to abandon ITSO. Recent news is the opposite - another rail contract up for tender that stipulates ITSO ticketing. Just my opinion though - no info that is not already public. DYOR G. | garth
10/11/2006 11:56 | Pants! big drop this morning... must be bad news on the way ! no other reason for the drop... mms playing games..we're getting shafted in the process! | rcktmn |
