05/2/2008 08:40 | Sorry drewz you can not know that, at these load factors the business is just about to go into profit and generate cash if they can increase load factors by 20% as your saying we will be laughing. The sell off was due to the uncertainity in the conflicting annoucements and if theres one thing the market does not like is that, as i type buyers returning including myself. | stluke
05/2/2008 08:34 | I'm afraid they are still losing money at a rate of knots on those performance metrics. Load factor is 20% below where it needs to be. Hence the sell off. | drewz
05/2/2008 08:15 | Doyouwantfries - I didnt sell my stop loss was triggered at 36p i placed it very tight as i was concerned that the market would react to any slight negativity. If the original RNS had not been released we could well have seen double digit gains this morning, i am currently in the process of contacting the company to make this point and get some clarification on certain other points. Depending on reply and share price movement i will return as i feel the reaction is over the top to what was a school boy error by the company, if the corrected annoucement is to be believed all is progressing very well. | stluke
05/2/2008 08:15 | Went to dubai last week and had agreat flight. easy check in with own lounge and plenty to eat etc. land dubai at the executive terminal - again dead easy and stress free. Great service all the way. had used maxjet in past for NY and was sorry to lose it but Sjet seems to be better generally (though MJ was very good as well) No doubt biggies will try to kill off for obvious reasons - i hope SJ can survive - will get repeat books just hope can get enough new clients to build data base. staff seemed positive bout prospects | gelp
05/2/2008 08:02 | stluke - you just sold? Strange rns replacement? | doyouwantfries
05/2/2008 07:50 | A positive update i would say. 1) Higher Load Factor. 2) Higher Revenue Seats. 3) Strong Forward Bookings. 4) Pre tax profit expected to be achieved in March 2008. 5) Cash generative in March 2008. 6) Punctual. How the market reacts who knows im sure they will find something to be negative about as i feel that is one of Silverjet's biggest hurdles the fact that so many people would like to see it fail which i just can't understand myself. Well theres may answer marked down at open i would assume due to the corrected release, very careless on the companies behalf. | stluke
04/2/2008 13:56 | Drewz i totally agree with your last paragraph this is high risk that is why ive only taken a small punt as i would call it. I repeat and refer you to my previous posts the key i believe upside or downside could well come from load factors that is why i feel the next update could be very important it has to be seen going in the right direction or the share price could well go lower. The reason for my slight optimism is that Lawrence has stated this month that sales have been the best ever and that they are almost at full tariff, whether he was telling the truth will be bourne out over the next three months when he states they will be come profitable and cashflow even. | stluke
04/2/2008 13:42 | "I'm slightly surprised we did not hear that information this morning as they are normally very prompt could be they are looking to couple some additional news to the announcement, i have a feeling it could well be positive as I'm sure Lawrence Hunt will want to strike back at the Daniel Stewart note." Lawrence can only 'strike back' by getting bums on seats on every flight and at full or near-full tariff. And with current business conditions as they are, that is becoming increasingly difficult to do. Ryanair may be a low cost airline, but its current difficulties are not irrelevant to those faced by Silverjet. Gimmicks, expansion plans, discounts, PR releases etc etc count for nought against load factor and margins. At all events, anyone wishing to invest or stay invested in Silverjet can't say they are unaware of how high risk this investment is. | drewz
04/2/2008 12:36 | LBO ive got no real emotion for Silverjet apart from what we are all after at the end of the day and thats a profit from our investments, ok i would like to see Silverjet survive and do well but im not going to lose any sleep if they dont. What i do have a problem with is your postings which to the untrained eye always appear to be bad news on the face if it, but if you dig alittle deeper its just not the fact like last week and again today. Silverjet and Ryanair are totally different airlines and you can not read to much into Ryanair's results imo. As i said friday i think this will be a interesting week one way or another, with the key being the passenger numbers and load factors, im slightly surprised we did not hear that information this morning as they are normally very prompt could be they are looking to couple some additional news to the annoucement, i have a feeling it could well be positive as im sure Lawrence Hunt will want to strike back at the Daniel Stewart note. | stluke
04/2/2008 12:00 | stluke you must be blinded by some emotion for Silverjet! You don't have to be Einstein to see the odds for Silverjet surviving get longer by the day! Ryanair sees turbulence as profits fall 27% Europe's largest airline forecasts that profits could fall by as much as 50 per cent if poor market conditions continue | lbo
02/2/2008 21:48 | Good luck to BA. I still think SIL have an advantage over them, and hope they survive and expand. | whiteboard
02/2/2008 18:00 | BA is also going to JFK and not Newark. No matter what anyone says it will dilute SilverJets passenger load. Question is, by how much....? | take_that
01/2/2008 16:41 | Well all of three minutes reading to dismiss that what LBO has posted, the fact that BA already operate 75 flights a week i dont think a further 32 seats will make much difference! £1,300 - £4,600 prices compared to £1,100 with Silverjet and the flight will take 9 1/2 hrs due to short runway at City Airport so will have to stop and refuel trust me customers will not like that one bit. | stluke
01/2/2008 15:03 | Yes indeed. BA are putting the final nail in Silverjets coffin! BA starts business-only flights from City Airport | lbo
01/2/2008 11:06 | SIL - The perfect short sale. 39 to zero !! bygadsir | bygadsir
29/1/2008 12:39 | This company just gets worse! Lawrence is like a child who is having a tantrum not the behaviour of a capable CEO IMHO. | lbo
24/1/2008 17:39 | "and, unlike his racing tips, Black's business tips are worth having." In whose opinion, pray tell? I don't suppose Mr Black knows the first thing about the economics of the airline industry. Perhaps he is simply a very rich man with plenty of cash to speculate on what he thinks looks like a good idea? | drewz
24/1/2008 16:19 | Silverjet looks set to expand its operations to increase links between the UK and Middle-Eastern destinations. The Luton-based airline has revealed plans to establish a franchise in the Qatari capital Doha, with a view to operating flights to destinations worldwide, including Europe. Though the project had only just got underway, the company's chief executive, Lawrence Hunt told The Gulf Times that they were in the process of attempting to secure investment for the development, which could cost in the region of $100 million (£50 million). "We're looking at setting up a franchise in Dubai to fly to destinations in Europe, Asia and the US," he said. "We're still in the early stages but it could be set up in six months. "At the moment we're looking for investment from banks, airlines and individual investors in this region." Silverjet currently operates daily business-class services from London Luton Airport to Dubai and New York. -------------------- Many of you will have heard of Andrew Black (know as Bert to his friends), the inventor and co-founder of Betfair. Black has recently stepped down from the daily operation of Betfair and has plenty of time on his hands. He is also a bona fide genius, a little mad but genuinely brilliant. His blog site is worth a visit. In recent postings he has focused on Silverjet and he is very actively building a stake in the company. Black, who never does anything by halves, is buying whenever the opportunity arises. This is likely to give a lift to prices and, unlike his racing tips, Black's business tips are worth having. -------------------- | dexter01

17/1/2008 17:51 | I hope Stoddart is proved wrong and Silverjet can pull through this rocky period. I would like to see them succeed. The flight I did with them to Dubai wasn't brilliant, but it was very good value for money. They deserve to succeed. I would be delighted if they could get their load factor up to 80%+ on every departure which is where they need to be. Unfortunately, I just can't see that happening in the current environment. Therefore, someone is going to have to stump up a heap load more money to keep the show on the road in the next 12-18 months. Sadly, I fear that means very difficult times for shareholders. The price may well halve from here. Then halve again. | drewz
17/1/2008 12:53 | One difficulty for Silverjet is that an issue of concern to stockmarket share publications is now spreading into various customer-focussed and flight related journals/blogs etc - where the finer points of the argument may not be grasped but the headline will. | m.t.glass
