The only reason why the United States went into protect Kuwait is because they sell their oil in USD.

The United States had offered Saddam Husain personally $300mln if he would ditch selling oil in Euros and return to selling in USD, he refused.

Why did the United States go in a second time when Iraq was no longer a threat to its neighbours and take him out? Because he was still wanting to sell Iraqi oil in Euro's.

In early 2021, Powering Progress (PP) strategy was paraded to shareholders as an alternative to surviving low oil price environment by not being an oil and gas company anymore, and a reason to not raise dividends. The world has changed since - oil and gas prices have shown their place in the world, CFO is gone, just need the CEO BvB to pack up soon so this outdated PP strategy can be ousted with him. Third Point has arrived at the scene - and need more activist shareholders to arrive, so as to employ competent management at Shell like at ExxonMobil to reinstate the old dividend levels and repair its tarnished legacy.

What a load of tosh;
“which will help Shell reach its target of becoming a profitable net-zero emissions energy business by 2050," Shell stated.”
What business can realistically and seriously have a 30 year look ahead - if you are realistic/sensible it is just woke/esg//pc brigade pleasing mumbo jumbo greenwashing - A hell of a lot can happen in 30 years, especially as technological advances are rising near-exponentially

TOP NEWS: Shell completes USD1.5 billion acquisition of Sprng Energy

Tue, 9th Aug 2022 08:34
Alliance News

(Alliance News) - Shell PLC on Tuesday said it has completed the acquisition of Indian renewable energy supplier Sprng Energy Pvt Ltd.

In late April, Shell announced that its subsidiary Shell Overseas Investment BV had signed an agreement with Actis Solenergi Ltd to acquire Solenergi Power Private Ltd, and with it Sprng Energy, based in Pune, western India.

"The solar and wind assets Shell acquires through the deal will triple Shell's present renewable capacity in operation and help deliver its Powering Progress strategy. An important part of Powering Progress is to develop an integrated power business

, which will help Shell reach its target of becoming a profitable net-zero emissions energy business by 2050," Shell stated.

Sprng Energy supplies solar and wind power to electricity distribution companies in India. Its portfolio consists of 2.9 gigawatts-peak of assets with a further 7.5 gigawatts-peak in the pipeline.

The transaction value is USD1.55 billion, Shell explained. "Subject to closing adjustments, about half of the previously announced transaction value will be reported as cash capex and the remainder assumed as debt obligations," it added.

Shell shares were 0.3% higher at 2,168.00 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.

Information... The Russian Troll Factory... Busiest time ever.... ......... You don't just sit around gathering dust there; you bang on the keys, the same nonsense for 11 hours," the former employee said. The money wasn't bad, but the work was demanding: posting up to 120 comments a day, over an 11-hour shift -- in chat rooms, on websites, and in social-media profiles belonging to specific Russian-language news outlets such as the independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta and RFE/RL's Russian Service."There were people who really flew at [the work] with enthusiasm, and then some who came to work just realizing that all they were doing was nonsense," Sergei K., a former employee of a Russian company that became known as the "Russian troll factory," told RFE/RL in an interview.Such was life at the St. Petersburg firm whose registered name used to be the Internet Research Agency and which earned its moniker by pumping out conspiracy theories, half-truths, trolling social-media posts, and other misinformation.Owned by a St. Petersburg businessman named Yevgeny Prigozhin, the operation gained international infamy when it was specifically identified in the 2017 U.S. intelligence report on Russian efforts to interfere in the previous year's presidential election.... l4 - Just look at Yandex maps and see how Russian roads and buildings are today, lovely tarmacked roads with no pot holes, buildings painstakingly repaired, compared to how they were even 10 years ago full of huge potholes just like roads are in the UK today.

Look how many people in the United States require food stamps, well over 40 million or 12% of the population and rising every month and the U.S. is supposed to be the richest country on Earth.

It is just that I first visited the Soviet Union in the late 1980's and saw what it was like then and how poor the people were with little food in the shops and worked and lived in Russia 2008 to 2014, I have also worked and lived in the Middle East, Asia as well as in several European countries.

Most Russian billionaires stole their money, their assets under the presidency of Yeltsin, Putin hates the oligarch's for this.

The West is doing Putin a great favour by sanctioning Russian oligarchs as it means they have lost so much of their power.

In an autocracy you can expect the majority of the population to be poor because autocracies are basically corrupt. In a democracy you can expect something better but it also doesn’t work in an ideal way. Voting systems are almost guaranteed to be flawed in some way.

adg - Under Putin, most of Russia's money does not go in fighting the West, most of it goes into building new infrastructure, like the UK did during Victorian times, building new state of the art hospitals where a Russian is able to get to see a specialist within less then a week or is able to get to see their GP on the same day.

There is most probably more Ukrainian corrupt money in London than Russian with most of this money coming via Cyprus aided and abetted by Deutsche bank, Commerzbank and banks in Latvia.

Even now, today Ukrainian politicians are as corrupt as ever, they make Russian politicians seem like they're cleaner than clean.

Because of all this corruption the Ukrainian people are the poorest in Europe.

If it wasn't for Putin, Russia and its people would be in exactly the same position.

xxxy - Since the end of WW2, the United States has over thrown more governments, killed and maimed more women and children than all other countries combined.

The United States got rid of Saddam Husain because he wanted to sell Iraqi oil in Euros instead of the almighty U.S. dollar, then they made Libya into a basket case of a country and kill Gadhafi because he wanted to sell Libyan oil in gold instead of the almighty U.S. dollar.

To put that into perspective. Autocracy is an abomination. The world would be a far better place without it. Democracy is also flawed. But maybe something better can come from it.

It isn't about Woke. It is because Russia invaded Ukraine and committed War Crimes, killing women and children and babies. No one in their right senses will touch such an abomination again ever.Everyone would abort their holdings in Shell if they continued with Russia.Shell is better without the Russian legacy.Sovereignty. Democracy. Liberty. Freedom. Are priceless. And be under no illusion Shell has done the right thing.Doing the right thing matters.

Sakhalin-2:

All shares of the project were put into a new company and the 3 foreign share holders can apply for free, stakes in the new company which Shell say they will not be doing because they wanted to be WOKE and to look good.

According to the document, Russian state gas giant Gazprom will receive a stake of just over 50% in the new firm.

The operator will hold the remaining shareholding of 49.99% to permit the Sakhalin 3 foreign investors to apply to the government to maintain their stakes they had in the previous operating company.

Shell and Japan’s Mitsui and Mitsubishi have one month after the new operator is formally incorporated in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to file applications to regain their shareholdings in Sakhalin 2 with early September set as a deadline.

If any foreign shareholder fails to renew its stake in the project within the allocated timeframe, authorities will have the right to sell these shares to a Russian investor in the following four months.

Japan has signalled its intention to maintain ownership in the LNG project, reported Nikkei Asia.

Details of the conditions for Japanese trading houses to apply to join the new Russian entity were not clear, but the ministry was not aware of any request by Russia for additional investment or costs to join the new company, Hagiuda said.
