17/2/2011 13:58 | Oh FFS! ;) | farnesbarnes
17/2/2011 13:43 | Will someone (everybody except me appears to know this) tell me what LOL means, please. | jadeticl
12/2/2011 18:04 | We discussed a while back whether SFR was involved in building wind turbines. It seems they are, but I don't remember them mentioning it: Unlikely to be a big earner, I'd have thought, but will save some jobs. | jonwig
08/2/2011 13:08 | jadetici - "Investec have initiated cover on VOD with a buy recommendation and a target price of 177p". The price on the day of recommendation was 178.5p! Well that made me laugh out loud - Thanks (Needed cheering up today!) | losos
08/2/2011 13:00 | jad post #3129 ... often the notes are sent to (insti) clients before market opens and prompt buying. That may have been the reason. Please don't have me getting too luvvie about analysts - I have a healthy scepticism on most things. | jonwig
08/2/2011 12:05 | Must be getting near the bottom for construction. I'm hanging on for the cyclical uplift! | grigor
08/2/2011 11:54 | jonwig, I agree that analysts are not wrong all the time, but how is this for an expert comment from analysts; "Investec have initiated cover on VOD with a buy recommendation and a target price of 177p". The price on the day of recommendation was 178.5p! | jadeticl
08/2/2011 10:08 | But the yield is lower than that of SFR is it not? | jadeticl
07/2/2011 15:33 | CGS is one of the best run small capps there is, nice yeild as well - have been following Castings for nearly 20 years. | essentialinvestor
07/2/2011 13:20 | How do you rate the quality of Castings compared with SFR, EI? | jadeticl
07/2/2011 09:50 | You can Buy Castings(CGS) on about half this multiple. | essentialinvestor
06/2/2011 17:09 | Looks like my post 2832 from last April was both right and wrong. Right in terms of the way the market's now starting to look at SFR. Dead wrong in terms of what happened between post 2832 and now! This company are still on my watchlist, and will continue to be so for some time yet. This is one, I think, to buy into when there's blood on the streets and the great British Press are predicting the end of the World/Solar System/Universe, etc....... | jimbo55
06/2/2011 15:32 | I agree enviro, I find it hard to believe there will not be a period of share price weakness some time in the next 2 years. I shall follow Warren & buy back when the world is selling; which is not now. | edmundshaw
06/2/2011 14:11 | Looks like its overvalued to me: Earnings Outlook Analysts on an average expect the company to report a 2011 pretax profits of 14.29 million pounds ($22.75 million). Fairfax forecasts the company's revenue for FY 2010 at £280 million and £270 million for FY 2011. Analysts predicts company's EPS (pre amortisation) at 12 pence per share for FY 2010, 8.4 pence per share for FY 2011 and 11.2 pence per share for FY 2012. The company is also estimated to declare a constant dividend of 10 pence for FY 2010, FY 2011 and FY 2012. Collins Stewart & Co says that the revenue for FY 2010 and FY 2011 to be constant at £280 million. EPS (pre amortisation) for FY 2010 is expected at 12.3 pence, higher than 8.7 pence prediction for FY 2011. The company expects to declare a dividend at a constant of 10 pence for FY 2010 and FY 2011. Peel Hunt estimates that the company will report an EPS (pre amortisation) of 11.9 pence per share for the FY 2010, while a profit of 8.3 pence is forecasted in FY 2011. Revenue is expected to be constant at £260 million for FY 2010 and FY 2011 respectively. Dividend is also forecasted to be constant at 10 pence per share for FY 2010 and FY 2011. | envirovision
05/2/2011 12:48 | Jad - it's maybe unpopular to hold respect for analysts, but provided you know the rules, I think they generally warrant it. The fact that analyst forecasts can vary so much is no surprise: who said this investment lark was easy! The target price (270p, say) seems not to have been modified by the construction CPI numbers - and we can understand this if it's remembered that the SFR sub-sector probably hasn't contributed much, as opposed to (say) housebuilding. The change of stance depending on whether the share price is above or below the TP looks fairly self-evident to me. | jonwig
04/2/2011 19:48 | I agree. And anyway 270p is a fair price all things considered just now. But let's hope they change soon. The CIPS PMI figures (thanks guest16) make life a little more interesting for SFR. If the price reaches 280p in two weeks will Arbuthnot issue a sell note?? | jadeticl
04/2/2011 13:39 | "Severfield-Rowen upgraded to buy from sell at Arbuthnot, target price stays 270p." I'm not sure that counts as an upgrade! They advised sell when the price was above 270p, they advise buy now it's below 270p, so presumably recent news has not influenced their view of the intrinsic value. | kasg

03/2/2011 15:05 | jadeticl - "This looks a very handsome rise this morning, and very welcome too. Is this just a bounce from overdone falls, or is there some news doing the rounds?" Could it be reaction to yesterday's positive CIPS PMI figures for construction ? | guest16
03/2/2011 12:38 | This looks a very handsome rise this morning, and very welcome too. Is this just a bounce from overdone falls, or is there some news doing the rounds? | jadeticl |
