Sod's Law says....remove the winter fuel allowance...expect a harsh winter...we're probably due one anyway...

Next two weeks certainly in Scotland is colder weather and little wind.I'm sure it needs at least 6 to 9 mph wind and lucky if it gets over 6mph in the central belt for next 2 weeks at least. Gas price up to £1.07.

Last year they had pretax profit of $389m and post tax of $131m, so tax 66%.
If the levy goes away, the tax savings are more important than $10 p/barrel price drop.

I’m not sure what their per barrel margin was but say it was $40. If the price drops $10, simplistically, PBT is down 25% or $90m. If $300m is taxed at 28%, they end up with PAT of $216m. So they are less profitable at the operating level but still make it up , and some, due to tax changes.

I would welcome $10 drop as Serica is my only producer.

Ultimately - is the oil price remains low 70s, its the worse of both worlds for SQZ.

So I'm just looking into SQZ and have a question some other people might help with;

- Obviously the Tax Rate is the big lag for SQZ and this isn't going to go away. Within the legislation; it has this

Energy Investment Security Mechanism (ESIM). It will end the Energy Profits Levy early if the 6-month average price for both oil and gas is at or below the ESIM threshold prices. The ESIM threshold prices are 71.40 dollars per barrel for oil and £0.54 per therm for gas

Now, with Oil Prices down to 73 dollars per barrel and with Trump's "Drill Baby Drill", would a lower oil price actually benefit SQZ? Does anyone know that if the ESIM threshold is breached - does the EPL of 38% crease to exist?

So a 10% drop in Oil prices from today would actually benefit SQZ?

Does anyone know if the p/e ratio is profit AFTER tax (dividend by market cap) and is that also AFTER windfall tax ?

Serica’s effective price is so low after tax that it affects their bottom line less.

If Trump does Drill... Drill... Drill... and the oilprice does fall to around £50, the marginal fields in the UK will cease to exist, only the strong will survive and prosper.

SQZ are 60% gas and think 25% oil hedged at a lower price in $60's.

It does look weak along with other NS producers and thought they might have got a boost with capital allowance being kept but not happening.

Had a run over SQZ results and what's the opinion that there is a 12-24 month delay on going from top profits to paying a high tax bill in the same year you had little capex and then moving onto high capex of $240m and a year of lower profits?

Shouldn't next year see a huge tax advantage compared to this year and a huge boost to FCF compared to this year albeit at around $90m for 1st half isn't too bad.

Can’t believe the price here, didn’t think I would ever get this opportunity to invest here at these prices. The screw will turn when they realise Muppetband is a total Buffoon and they reverse the WFT, by that time SQZ will own half of the N/S

Yes and how dare you suggest that telling us in the evening that he bought back in the morning to benefit from the share price increase that day is in any way phoney.

zicopele is a legend. He receives dividends before the pay date, and lottery numbers before the draw date. And still has time to dabble around with a few £k here and there. Absolute legend.

All the big boys are getting out. Tax policy will be done on a whim and oil looks to Labour like a cow to be milked.

I am buying HBR instead for international exposure.

Anyone know what the capital allowances situation is? Reeves said 19% would be withdrawn but 100% is still applicable. It is as clear as mud to me. Does this mean new developments are viable or not?
