Utility exposure looks like mostly power And of course there's a lot of international diversification which helps So looks like if there's any UK water hold co debt it's going to be pretty small

Anyone know if SEQI has exposure to bonds/loans issued by water utilities holding companies That debt is reliant from dividends paid by the utility owning subsidiaries And from April 2025 if those utilities aren't rated above BBB/neg outlook then divis can't be paid This is one of Thames waters problems, but it's likely to impact others

550k shares bought back on a day of about 2 million trades.

At least the buyback provides some support

Alas today its down again in spite of the buy back.

I am sticking with it but glad that I have diversity.

Lots of income shares are down in the current market.

I hold AGR as well as SEQI and enjoy quarterly dividends from both.

Both are well below asset value to buy.

AV. and LGEN are paying 8%+ right now.

Enjoy these yields!!!

General nervousness and movement toward gilts and bonds have affected things.

Ian Cowie in the Sunday Times has been a good influence on me.

Diversify, diversify, diversify.

Dividends fluctuate far less than capital values.

Assuming that the NAV hasn't changed significantly, then the discount is now higher than it's ever been, even during Trussonomics.

I'm tempted to double up, but feel I must be stupidly missing something blindingly obvious that makes it so unpopular

The main thing we need to keep our eye on as investors is whether or not any more of the loans become distressed. I think the board added some rigour to their underwriting (through a couple of BOD appointments last year) following the problems with Bulb (at the time that was a bit of a black swan event really).

Divis are well covered and of course the more shares that sit in Treasury, the less distribution. I am not impressed with the paper capital losses atm, however as a long-term hold of this share I believe it should return towards NAV (probably with a 5% 10% discount) over time (unfortunately, there may be a bit more pain in the short term as interest rates are still rising).

If only the British public would wind their neck in on the spending front!🤷̴5;♂️28580;🤣

Yep will be adding decent value at these levels, no point lending anymore money when you can buy the shares!

Still got the funds to continue the 'buy-back' and pay the handsome quarterly dividends.

Do 'buy-backs' not indicate the safety of future dividends and the likeihood of dividend growth?

The asset value is there.

See: RNS 14th June 2023.

The markets seem concerned about future interest rate rises.

With interest rate rises do bonds or gilts become preferable for less volatility of capital values?

I am sticking with SEQI and AGR for the high quarterly dividends.

It's still going down. 8.9% yield now.
How concerned are holders?
Should we be topping up now at under 77p?

I read the update this morning and the only thing that surprised me was the interest contribution per share, which was lower than I expected, given the rise in interest rates, share buybacks and the amount of the book that is on variable rate. I think last month it was 0.74p and this month only 0.61p. 🤷‍a94;️🤔

Monthly summary

NAV marginally down, but income and asset valuation adjustments in the MONTH just about offset the quarterly dividend payment.

The low duration is key, and the recent update seems to confirm that. This is a credit play fa more than a rates play. Same for RECI and to an extent, VSL.

When rates were on the floor an 8 yield did indeed stick out But at 4s it shouldn't of itself be seen as too alarming - especially as SEQIs low duration means higher rates feed into higher net interest returns reasonably quickly
