The buy now paymaster app (sadly) will likely see strong demand and could pull a rabbit out of the hat.

As I said, I would wait to see what the defaults are like before taking a view. Clearly they are getting worse and I think there could be a bad couple of quarters for lenders like STB.

100% sells in Trades so far this morning.

Why?

What`s the point of increased lending if you get stuffed with a massive impairment charge?

Overall very disappointing and the charge could have been flagged in their Trading Statement months ago.

And the horrendous spread discourages any trading in the stock.

Looks like a good call miti!
It’s a safe call to bank profits but if they lend responsibly, the figures and Divi are pretty solid and Schroeders also think so.

Sold out of STB in past few weeks on this strong rally. The outlook looks too recessionary .Good luck to holders.

I think it was RC Turner popping up again with his negative comments (note to him....STB barely have any defaults) which caused the recent spike.
He worked like clockwork on the last rise as well , appearing just after it tanked.

Crikey I’m in profit again (excluding dividends). Does seem something is brewing rather than just the Schroders holding increase ?

Yes a very quiet board and exactly my sentiments. To me this seems to be undervalued based on performance and divi’s. However, I assume that any concerns will be in relation to economic concerns which could relate to defaults. However we were told that they have/are tightening lending policies with a targeted clientele.

Lovely move, was beginning to think I was one of very few having an eye on this and thinking it under valued.

The recent trading update was still very positive and they seem to be very well targeted with tighter approval criteria, according to the Q&A session on results presentation.

If the UK is going into recession in 2023 according to the BOE and with defaults historically coming through with a lag you're likely to be staying on the sidelines for quite some time.

I like STB but until we get some idea of default rates I am staying on the sideline.

I guess so, certainly the last trading update was excellent, however, I would assume that people will be tightening belts and the reckless may default.

I am presuming recent share price weakness reflects nothing more than concerns about the outlook for the UK economy.

It's a good company. I'm still marginally in loss on these. The share price is just too low. Hopefully, that will change as things continue to improve. The new CEO seems sensible.

I think perhaps dividend hunters are a bit annoyed by the decision to have a four times divi cover but even so we have a 5% yield at these prices.

Great results and multiple sells! share price 6% down! This market is crazy and very hard to make money or even preserve it!
