30/4/2016 08:38 | The Times Article:Scotgold Resources has received planning permission to start work on processing gold in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. About 7,000 tonnes of ore lie on the surface of the Cononish site near Tyndrum. The AIM-listed company intends to use part of the stockpile to go through a small-scale processing plant that it hopes will show investors the quality of the minerals that can be extracted from the land. The management believes that the trial will generate cashflow and strengthen the investment case for a full-scale mine.Richard Gray, 56, chief executive, has said that jewellers are interested in the metal because of the rarity of Scottish gold and silver. The Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Planning Authority has granted Scotgold nine months to run the trial. The company will have to adhere to regulations pertaining to working hours, environmental impact and remediation. It also must provide monthly progress updates. The planning authority said that the trial would help to create temporary jobs, while the proposed mine could involve additional longer-term employment.Mr Gray said: "With this permission in place, the bulk processing trial can proceed with on-site activities."The equipment needed for the trial has been built and is expected to arrive in Scotland soon. Operations are expected to begin next month.Shares in Scotgold edged up to ¾p. | cacher01 | |
