20/5/2020 14:08 | The drop looks much too severe to me. Hopefully a quick bounce as the return from lockdown takes hold. Alphabeta4, you haven't taken into account: - SDI have already said they'll meet market expectations to 30th April just gone of 3.6p EPS - any of the cost reductions and furloughing already activated by SDI - a majority of the production units are providing components for fighting COVID-19 - you can't extrapolate the full revenue loss for a whole year, since the lockdown is already easing in the first month of the new financial year, especially with (1) a full year upcoming of contributions from the acquisitions made in the last year and (2) all eight production units having continued in operation through the pandemic. | rivaldo
20/5/2020 13:00 | Using the JDGs update if the same applies here then order intake would be 11% off (as SDI has more UK/Asia focus). Using the 32% cost of sales line with a 11% revenue drop gives 29.3*0.11*0.68=2.19m off pre tax profits or circa 43% off the now withdrawn forecast. The price was 90p back at the end of Jan gives 51.3p target and that's assuming the disruption lasts for the whole year and none of the other costs are variable. If someone is able to shed some light on also what the variable costs are outside the cost of sales line that would be helpful (for example I presume wages are outside the cost of sales line and we know SDI have been using the Furlough scheme)? | alphabeta4
20/5/2020 12:09 | One of the reasons I bought in here was the potential for a takeover at some point. At 45M Mcap, got to be tempting for someone... | johndoe23
20/5/2020 08:56 | With SDI's share price looking unloved , giving the Company a market cap of a mere £ 46 million , might it not be vulnerable to a predator , such as Judges Scientific , which has a market cap of £ 291 million ? I'm certainly not ramping , as I have a reasonable exposure to SDI and , anyway , should a potential purchaser appear , it would increase the share price of SDI . I'm merely trying to add to our discussion . All the best . | mrnumpty
18/5/2020 13:12 | Nope montynj, ADVFN is more than enough for me :o)) | rivaldo
18/5/2020 10:34 | Rivaldo, are you on Twitter? If so, what is your Twitter handle? | montynj
18/5/2020 08:31 | Interesting to see just now 10k shares bought at a fraction under 50p - a full 2p above the published 48p offer price. | rivaldo
15/5/2020 10:34 | Agreed Hastings. IMO organic growth nearly always trumps acquisitional growth. I keep thinking back to the ATIK update where they appear to be apologising to their astronomy fan base for keeping them waiting on new product development / launch - because they are super busy supplying ATIK cameras for medical imaging purposes. OK so Covid-19 related staff absences / social distancing measures may have cut production capacity somewhat - but it hasn't brought the business to a grinding halt. Agreed JohnDoe23 - nice rise today - anything sub-50p looks buy territory to me. Fils | fillspectre
15/5/2020 10:01 | Nice rise today. That's more like it! | johndoe23
15/5/2020 06:49 | Personally can't see an acquisition in the foreseeable future, but that isn't an issue for me. Plenty of opportunities ahead and I'm sure that SDI will strike at the appropriate time. | hastings
14/5/2020 12:39 | My gut feeling is that the board will sit on its hands regards acquisitions all through the Summer and possibly into the Autumn. Why rush? I'm sure in the next few years there will be plenty of opportunities for right priced acquisitions. I'd rather the board spend its time on navigating all its existing business safely through Covid-19 and my ideal would be for them to be able to report organic growth across all divisions. Meanwhile I am surprised the share price continues to drift down as I would suspect SDI Group are one of the businesses most likely to be least affected by Covid-19. I'm rather thinking they can easily employ social distancing across all divisions. and there is a good chance some divisions will see increases in revenue opportunities as spending priorities change due to Covid-19. 14/5/2020 08:41 | I would doubt it, so close to last update. Here's hoping for news of an acqusition very soon! Crazy drop considering all sites are operational and actually manufacturing components in the fight against covid-19! | johndoe23
14/5/2020 08:20 | Completely friendless currently. Last year there was a TS on 15-May for y/e 30-Apr and then a further update on 27-Jun also for y/e 30-Apr. I wonder whether, further to the update on 23-Apr-20, we will get another update anytime soon. | shanklin
13/5/2020 15:35 | Here's hoping rivaldo. Cohort and Judges are both up today, clearly no read across from there to here... | johndoe23
11/5/2020 13:57 | Good to see the buying price moving up gradually today and sells achieving a good premium to the 47p bid for the most part. About time SDI joined in with the overall market rally, with easing of the lockdown now in sight and a number of SDI's divisions providing components to be used against COVID-19. | rivaldo
04/5/2020 21:57 | Thanks for sharing your comments and insights. I am quite positive on the company generally but am keen to improve my understanding of charts. Let's see how it plays out. The ADVFN chart function is useful, as a freebie user I get better access (i.e. does not time out) outside of trading hours but I can live with that. | rp19
04/5/2020 21:11 | Chart shows 50 and 200 dma with the share price bouncing down from the 200 dma and mirroring the 50 dma moving downwards. Plus, I've drawn in the resistance trend line, it's moving down and that's above recent average volume for today's move, tends to suggest this'll be moving lower and following those resistance lines. Not a prediction, but I wont be buying on the back of that chart. NAI free stock charts from uk.advfn.com | owenski
04/5/2020 13:53 | RP19, you can open a basic chart here on ADVFN, it's a good enough offering with enough overlays to easily detect trends and trend changes. | owenski
04/5/2020 13:50 | Hi Owenski, which websites do you use to look at chart patterns? Thanks. | rp19
04/5/2020 13:45 | This bounced down off the 200 dma and is currently tracking a declining 50 dma. Wouldn't be in any rush to buy these myself, no buyers to drive price. imo | owenski
04/5/2020 13:24 | Probably not my best move buying in the low 50's. Only on 13 x forward earnings now, will watch carefully for any potential top up opportunity. | johndoe23
04/5/2020 12:56 | aero and industrial sectors struggling weighing. 40p should be support and I'm watching that zone myself. | dan_the_epic
04/5/2020 12:36 | Seems like an oversold drop to me?! | johndoe23
27/4/2020 19:37 | Yes the ask ticked back up after those late buys | johndoe23
