14/4/2018 16:58 | Hmmm. Not sure I’m that positive. I don’t think BG are the best manager. They are going to get hammered when the overvalued technology stocks decline as growth has had its time and value is where the action will be at this point in the cycle in my view. Amazon for example is on a nonsensical valuation. I’ve sold out of Pacific Horizon and Edinburgh Worldwide as well as reducing on Scottish Mortgage. Will wait and see what their UK portfolio looks like. | topvest
13/4/2018 07:15 | Great news! Schroders given the heave-ho and Baillie Gifford appointed in their place. Hopefully this will now start to motor. I wish them well. Schroders were just too complacent and its caught up with them. New name too - Baillie Gifford UK Growth Fund, ticker BGUK once they take over. | irenekent
03/1/2018 18:22 | These seem to be under the radar despite a steady climb back towards levels that held in the Buxton era. | irenekent
03/9/2016 15:43 | irenekent, are you sure you know what you are talking about? Go plot the sdu versus Woodford's patient capital trust over one year or YTD, you will see Woodford underperformed over 12% YTD and over 20% over one year, without taking into consideration that sdu pays over 3% dividend while wpct pays near to nothing. | ceaserxzy
03/9/2016 08:23 | Still little progress and a lousy yield after all the fees. This should be put out of its misery. An absolute disgrace. They are even buying back shares to be held in treasury. What for - to pay bonuses I suspect. The shares should have been cancelled to reduce the number of shares out there and help the share price. This company should follow the practise of Woodfords and abolish the bonuses. | irenekent
06/3/2015 10:55 | What happened to the star manager we were supposed to have got? These are still under performing with markets at highs this share is on a 10% discount. Not a lot of faith in the caretaker manager it would seem. | irenekent
16/10/2014 19:27 | I've bought some of these. Not a bad trust on a reasonable discount and yield. Schroders seem to have messed up here by swapping manager 2/3 times in a year; from the recent RNS I suspect this trust (which has a reasonable asset base) will now attract a very good new manager from outside Schroder. Just a speculative thought really, but what about Neil Woodford? I would have thought that they are big enough to attract some decent names like this. Also, a very sensible board decision to remove leverage until a decision is made given subsequent events! | topvest
12/9/2014 08:19 | board are reviewing irene - hold fire - the discount will narrow if they bring him back.. | edwardt
10/9/2014 09:46 | If only. This woman has ruined this trust and the quicker she goes the better. Its turning into a directionless income fund Even as a write I see that in fact she has resigned (or been pushed) from Schroders.. The fund will now be run by Matt Hudson. Watch this space and be ready to bail out. It could be just more of the same. Bring back Buxton. | irenekent
08/9/2014 08:54 | Mr B to make a return??? | edwardt
05/7/2014 11:35 | Unfortunately the new broom has made a clean sweep and cleared away all the old investments and replaced them with a load of rubbish. I am seriously thinking of exiting this fund. She has nearly doubled the number of stocks held. What a mess. Just take a look at the annual report. | irenekent
10/2/2014 17:47 | well irene was completely right - shares now at a premium! | edwardt
15/3/2013 14:39 | If anyone has noticed, the shares have dropped significantly today. This is because the two guys who run the fund are leaving. However as others have remarked this is basicly a FTSE tracker so the new guys don't really have much to do and hopefully won't be paid as much. I am sure Schroders pretty much know who they want to run this fund, but there may be a few wobbles until they are confirmed. The next announcement will not be until the end of June which gives plenty of time to get things sorted. Or in other words - DON'T PANIC. | irenekent
16/4/2012 12:59 | SDUS expire 31st July 12 Looks like they will be out the money if SDU keep falling. Exercise price 129p. | peterbill
21/2/2011 12:58 | A post every 2 or 3 years. This has to be one of the quietest threads anywhere, and I thought AISI was quiet. 5 months left until first chance to use subs but where will the stock markets be by then? | marab
09/9/2008 12:25 | Underperformed FTSE 100 by 12.5% since May 6th this year. | washbrook
16/11/2007 08:21 | I also like this share - but will be standing back for a month the 16% discount is only about 2% I dont know where you got that figure from but a good share in a rising market | tiger20
06/1/2005 11:54 | Seems the manager is back to form. I've been following his popular UK Alpha Plus fund recently, and it's starting to perform. With discount to NAV of 16% @ current price & 3.2% Divi, share price has a lot further to go | isa23
06/1/2005 11:45 | Seems the manager is back to form. I've been following his UK Alpha Plus fund, and its starting to perform. 16% discount to NAV @ current price doesn't seem justified. hopefully it narrows soon | isa23
02/7/2003 08:59 | Dividend 1.5p XD 9.7.03 PAYMENT 31.7.03 | washbrook
06/5/2003 09:29 | Since the low of 12.3.03 at 3287 FTSE and [sdu] 64.75p FTSE to 10.10am today FTSE @3996.5 = up 21.58% sdu to 10.10am today 78.5p = up 20.849% The point that ENERGYI makes is a valid one although the warrants have expired the share price applies with the yld being over 5% : | washbrook
15/4/2003 13:13 | Brunner excellent value at the moment, 22% discount. | washbrook
05/3/2003 12:45 | Brunner [but] Trading at 22% discount. Purchase of own stock. | washbrook
