Trade Type Indicators

Every trade report submitted without a bargain condition shall be deemed to have been submitted with the trade type indicator of "O", except in the following circumstances when the trade type indicator shall be as shown:

"B" if a market maker is reporting a transaction effected between two member firms where neither member firm is registered as a market maker in the security in question. This indicator shall also be applied by a market maker where a broker dealer enters into a transaction with another broker who is not a member firm. A market maker is required to enter both the buy and sell side of such transactions;

"K" if reporting a transaction using the block trade facility. Publication delayed by five business days or 90% offset in accordance with rule 6.26;

"M" if reporting a transaction, other than a transaction resulting from a stock swap or stock switch, between two market makers registered in the security concerned;

"N" if reporting a non protected portfolio transaction of a fully disclosed portfolio transaction. Publication delayed in accordance with rule 6.26;

"P" if reporting a protected portfolio transaction or a transaction resulting from a worked principal agreement to effect a portfolio transaction which includes order market securities;

"R" (a) if reporting a riskless principal transaction between non-members where the buying and selling transactions are executed at different prices or on different terms (this requires a trade report with trade type indicator "R"); (b) if a market maker is reporting all the legs of a riskless principal transaction where the buying and selling transactions are executed at different prices (this requires a trade report with trade type indicator "R"; or (c) if a market maker is reporting the onward leg of a riskless principal transaction where the legs are executed at different prices, and another market maker has submitted a trade report using trade type indicator

"M" for the first leg (this requires a single trade report with trade type indicator "R");

"RO" if reporting a transaction which resulted from the exercise of a traditional option or a stock settled covered warrant;

"T" if reporting a single protected transaction;

"X" if reporting transactions effected as an agency cross, a put through, or a riskless principal transaction between non-members at the same price and on the same terms.
