Hi all - it seems like others here have already been contacted by their brokers about receipt of Portage shares. I hold these with Iweb and they have not received any info from Salvarx yet and suggested I contact them directly. I used the number on the press release next to the CFO name and am waiting to hear back. Any suggestions on what else to do ?

but with big fluctuations - while looking at it 4 times in a few minutes it went from .09 to .114 from down on the day to up..

Stig, what are you planning to do with your Portage shares ?

I've had an email from Charles Stanley telling me that they can hold them for me as nominee (but for a not insignificant annual fee) so I can do that but have no idea whether that is a good idea. I bought the SALV shares at 30p (ish) each on a hunch some time ago so have done okay. I do have a terrible habit of holding shares in which I am showing a profit, when I should have taken that profit, before the price then plunges and I end up in a loss.

Knowing my luck, I'll sell my Portage shares just before they treble …..

The real value is in Portage. I had sold about half of my SALV @63 to recoup my stake, but last night my Portage shares were worth more than double my original stake and I have had that back and still have the rump SALV shares. Looks like a good result.

Before London closing last night the Portage price was moving up.

Distribution looking like 15th January 2019.
Price dropped today so now priced in.
Portage is listed on Canadian Market so you may need to fill in a form to receive these in your Account. Best to check with whoever your broker is.

Okay. Just to re-cap. SALV will become the owner of 757M Portage shares in exchange for signing over its trading business to Portage. SALV then becomes an investment business

SALV then plans to simply pass on 90% the Portage shares to its own shareholders so we will end up each owning X number of shares in Portage (plus our existing SALV shares albeit probably around 10p a share at that point reflecting the value of the Portage shares not distributed).

Questions:

1. how long is it likely to be before the distribution takes place ?

2. how simple is it for a UK shareholder to directly own (and trade) shares in Portage ?

Presumably, the SALV share price will, from today, exactly reflect the value of the Portage shares and could be sold before the distribution happens ?

EDIT: just noticed the SALV share price has dropped to 10p so already prices in the distribution ?
