21/11/2020 14:38 | Quite frankly if you shop online for food, can you really rely on others to exercise the same scrutiny as you would yourself. Will you get the latest sell by date.I lift the crates to ensure this is the case.I check that cauliflower or brocolli is not showing any mould for example.I make sure that eggs in the packaging are not cracked. What about soft fruits such as strawberries and raspberries showing signs of discolouration.I could go on and on.There is nothing like picking your own food yourself ensuring the highest quality food standards. For me online food shopping is not an option.I am not prepared to settle for second best. | imperial3
21/11/2020 12:53 | I know a few who have switched to Sainsburys during the pandemic due to social distancing being all but non existent in the discounters. | tim 3
21/11/2020 12:21 | Well we're one of the fattest and unhealthiest nations so it all makes sense i guess. | chiefbrody
21/11/2020 12:11 | Same here never done online supermarket shopping people are defiantly getting more lazy. | tim 3
21/11/2020 12:08 | Aye just dint get the love for online food (or clothes) shopping.Having said that, if councils were not so loathing towards peeps with cars, you'd have more peeps out shopping. | chiefbrody
21/11/2020 11:50 | I cant see why anyone would shop online unless frail in some way. If people are so effete they cant even pick their own food I think the next stage is extinction. Ideally have your own allotment failing that at least go to a store and select your own food. What on earth is the world coming to... | netcurtains
21/11/2020 11:41 | I don't really buy that. Maybe for some of the oldies or fatties.Still, as a holder of Sains, ain't gonna complain.Online shirley a much bigger reason. | chiefbrody
21/11/2020 11:40 | Aldi losing ground doesn't explain why Lidl have managed to hold theirs. Sainbury's on-line shopping has more then doubled over these 9 months. Sainsbury's maybe gaining market share, however how profitable is this extra market share? | loganair
21/11/2020 11:32 | Imperial3: Its pretty obvious - Aldi have tiny isle widths and tiny car parks - they feel like covid infection places more than stores. The old supermarkets tend to have huge stores so one tends to feel safer. Sainsburys probably make you feel the safest - big stores.... So Sainsbury doing best. | netcurtains
21/11/2020 11:30 | Surprising. I wonder why? | imperial3
21/11/2020 11:14 | In Kantar's latest figures the biggest winner by far is Sainsbury's followed by Tesco, Morrison & Waitrose. The biggest losers by far were Aldi & the Co-op followed by Ocado. It seems to me that Aldi is struggling most when it comes to Covid shopping, losing 0.5% market share over the past 9 months while Lidl is managing to hold its ground maintaining its market share at 6.1%, the same as it was 9 months ago. | loganair
20/11/2020 15:13 | Used to work for Dixons group, they would do everything to avoid a refund if the product was over 6 months old. They would have you getting engineers reports and in all honesty can never remember them fully refunding a laptop out of warrenty the most they did was offer some vouchers towards a replacement. From memory to get a refund you had to prove it was faulty when sold.Good luck anyway. | tim 3
20/11/2020 14:29 | Would not have expected that either. Wastes loads of time when that happens. Hope that it works out for you. | alphorn
20/11/2020 08:59 | sounds like aldi are struggling to get customers - the BIG stores are taking all the punters. People feel more safe in BIG stores. | netcurtains
20/11/2020 08:56 | Aldi ramps up home delivery service with expansion of Deliveroo trial Discount supermarket brand Aldi UK had announced the expansion of a home delivery trial to almost 130 stores across the country. The UK arm of the German supermarket business has confirmed that its ongoing trial with delivery firm Deliveroo is set to be expanded as the demand for home delivery of groceries continues to grow. Aldi UK first started offering online food parcels to support self-isolating and vulnerable customers during the COVID-19 pandemic in April, and a month later began a delivery trial in partnership with Deliveroo. Under the trial, Aldi customers are able to order groceries on the Deliveroo app for same day delivery. The news comes as online grocery shopping has seen a significant uplift as the result of coronavirus, and follows the brand’s extension of its click and collect trial announced last week - which will see click and collect services available in up to 200 additional stores by Christmas. The supermarket commented: “We’re finding customers really value having more ways to shop at Aldi, particularly at the moment.” | loganair
19/11/2020 12:05 | The ShareSoc webinar could be interesting. I'd like to ask James Collins a few questions about their strategy on home deliveries. They need to get a grip of it now that its becoming a much larger % of revenues and likely to stay that way. | quinag
19/11/2020 11:10 | Nice to see these creeping up gently. | imperial3

19/11/2020 07:47 | Atrazenica vaccine news: but also Times reports take over rumours around Sainsburys bank | netcurtains
19/11/2020 03:38 | You know when someone has genuine breathing difficulties because you can hear them struggling and it affects the way they speak Also someone with genuine breathing difficulties certainly would not be able to do a 8 or 10 hour shift in Sainsburys, on their feet for most of the day As for people with asthma The only time they would not be able to wear a mask is when they are actually having an asthma attack. In which case they would not be working. I have severe asthma sufferers in my family, so i know. I regularly see managers in Sainsbury's on the shop floor with a mask around their neck. So why would the staff do anything else. From what I have seen it looks like Sainsbury's really don't give a damn about high risk elderely shoppers. | spob
18/11/2020 00:46 | supermarkets did not furlong their staff they paid ex/vanulable staff wages. imagine the headline government pay supermarket staff to furlong! imagine the panic oh no food!? | rolo7
18/11/2020 00:42 | Agree sounds wrong them pocketing the money although you could argue in the interests of doing the best for shareholders, something they are often accused of not doing, they should. | tim 3 |
