Posted at 12/9/2024 20:25 by boonkoh Yeah, barely £4k traded every day.But that is also an attrraction; if the growth keeps continuing, there will be more interest as momentum builds in the price, and so the limited liquidity will mean the share price will tend to overshoot the fair value at some point and create a really profitable exit. |
Posted at 22/8/2023 15:22 by hybrasil We will get the results here in 3 or 4 weeks. Judging by hostelworld I think they are going to be stellar.Hopefully they will have a star like affect on the share price |
Posted at 20/7/2023 17:54 by hybrasil If the share price was merely to reflect the cash raised since 2014 it would be about 50% higher than today. That would give about 45p. I,of course am targeting a lot more than that! |
Posted at 11/6/2023 19:26 by thirty fifty twenty smithie - thank you for your research, contributions and replies as they help me understand the business and my investment decision.all of the full requirements are in the directors report. in 2012 LL earned 77k. what seems to have happened is that SSTY have posted up to the website the full detailed financial statements for FY22 but not yet the full annual report for FY22 - maybe it is still at the printers. imho the full information will be there at some point - as it was last year. thus i have found 2 bits of 'criteria information' have been red herrings for me i.e. the Air Conditioning was stated on the website, and the directors salaries are also detailed, just not yet for FY22. everyone has their own investing style and i wish you luck with yours. because i choose information sources that are helpful to my style please dont be offended that i will now filter yours posts. i dont understand why you are risking your money and then continually post at length negatives, some of which i have found to be untrue. for me.... i like the assets, i like the growth in the sector, i have no doubt i would run the company differently to the current management but that is not an option. as a minority shareholder i accept that i will only get a percentage of the cake. for me all companies have downsides, faults and risks. i have decided re SSTY that the reward if they do increase occupancy and/or average room rate for the next 2 years that is share price growth - i bought at 20p in february. i bought more after these recent results. for me, i see upside of 40p within 24 mths. maybe 60p if they do well and make acquisitions. if it goes wrong i think i will be able to sell out for at least the 20p i bought my first tranche at. my strategy is heavily influenced by the chart which , like Hostelworld has clearly broken a multi year downtrend and is also clearly in an uptrend. i will hold as long as that uptrend in still working. i accept risk. the holding is now 0.5 per cent of my overall portfolio. good luck all - whatever your strategy etc... |
Posted at 11/6/2023 16:04 by smithie6 here are the reqts for reporting dirs remuneration & share optionshxxps://www.natlawre "Directors’ remuneration report The remuneration report must be available free of charge on the company’s website for ten years. { I do not see it on SSTY website}} The remuneration report must include the split of fixed and variable remuneration awarded to each director each year. { the SSTY annual report does not do this}} The remuneration report must specify any changes to the exercise price and date for the exercise of shares or share options by directors. The remuneration report must compare the annual change in directors’ remuneration to the annual change in pay of the company’s employees and of the company’s performance (measured in terms of total shareholder return) over a five year rolling period. The report must include the remuneration of the CEO and deputy CEO even if they are not directors of the company. Directors’ remuneration payments Remuneration or loss of office payments to directors that are not consistent with the approved directors’ remuneration policy may only be made if an amendment to the policy authorising the company to make the payment has been approved by shareholders. The regulations will come into force on 10 June 2019. © Copyright 2023 Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP" I can not find these details for SSTY. Are the rules being ignored/broken ? |
Posted at 11/6/2023 14:42 by smithie6 "Mr Lipman is a consumate dealmaker for whom I have the highest regard"The co. floated at 50p/share in 2014, in 2023 money that is phps 75p. The share price is now 30p. It has halved. That is reality. Any idiot can go out & buy stuff. You just need a chequebook & a pen ! Doing it profitably is a bit more complicated ! Since 2014 how much income has Larry received as CEO/chairman ? 10 years x ~£200k ? £2.0 million ? (as far as I can see the pay for Larry Lipmann is secret, the AR gives a total for all directors, not for each one. I don't agree with that. Standard practice is to state the renumeration of each director & any cash bonus & any pension contribution. The Safestay accounts break the norm. It is the same for share options. Why is Larry Lipmann intentionally producing opaque accounts ? good pay for LL for a part time job ! While shareholders in the flotation at 50p, 75p in 2023 money, have seen their money half !! The official accounting result for 2022 was a loss, 8 years after listing. Since 2014, Larry Lipman has gained a lot of money from Safestay, doing a part time job, while shareholders have lost money. Hopefully 2023 will see shareholder losses reduce. |
Posted at 11/6/2023 13:54 by hybrasil smithieMr Lipman is a consumate dealmaker for whom I have the highest regard. He took the difficult decision to off load Edingburgh which sustained the company through the covid crisis. Everything in the hospitality sector has been slow enough to see their share price recover. As you helpfully point out the company seems to be benefiting from really strong rates at the moment. That will all eventually translate into a much higher share price |
Posted at 09/6/2023 14:04 by smithie6 ....trying to grind thru the results, after lunch..the profitability of the UK section is impressive I think; & phps supports a good part of the share price on its own. note 2. £6.9 million turnover £2.6 million PBT !! but that is without apportioning any part of 'shared services' of ~£4.5 million. ( = what ??) ----- Bit surprised the Spanish section does not produce better profit numbers since Spain is a big tourist destination (2 hostels in Barcelona & it is a year round tourist destination). ------ btw a big chunk in one off costs which one assumes won't repeat in 2023. £0.9 million legal & professional costs £0.1 million audit costs from 2021 (yes 2021) & a £ 0.8m hit to profits in 2022 from currency movements (note 21)...which is phps just due to change in valuation of non-UK assets, & surely changes year to year. those 3 items add up to ~£2million !; which hopefully won't repeat in '23, helping to increase the PBT in '23. |
Posted at 09/6/2023 11:13 by smithie6 share price rise is 2p.7% not 3% more to come imo. ...let the results filter out.... |
Posted at 07/6/2023 15:05 by smithie6 btwhigh prices imo in some cities for beds at Safestay. eg. Barcelona, Paseig de Gracia hostel a bed tonight (Wednesday) in a male dorm. with 8 beds, is 39.86€, on the Safestay website. 40€ for a bed in a dorm. ! arriving on same day after 5pm without breakfast seems very expensive to me. too expensive ? if you then change the number of people from 1 to 2 it comes back with a new total price (in that room), ie . there is availability. & if you change the number of people to 3 people it comes back with a new total price, in that same room, ie. there is availability. Should the price be reduced in order to get the occupancy up ? the income from an empty bed is...zero ! ======= for 2 people, is the price per person about the same , or more, than for staying in an en suite private room at Premier Lodge, with bedside tables & lamps & a TV ? if so then again it infers that the prices are arguably a bit higher than they should be. (possible clients will look at other options, including Premier Lodge) ======= Barcelona is a popular destination & is surely very busy, even on a Wednesday. But 40€/night/pers ====== (Safestay has another hostel in Barcelona, which is downtown downtown & where one could phps charge a premium price if there is no other availability in the downtown downtown area. But at the Paseig de Gracia location I think that 40€/night/pers ======== the normal action for hostels is to reduce the price on arrival day for empty beds after perhaps 3pm .....but I do not see Safestay doing that. Why not ? Is Safestay 'on the ball' or perhaps a bit lazy/dozy ? ====== if they paid me a % I could adjust prices on arrival day after midday or 3pm to get more beds filled....but I'd rather not have the hassle !! |
