22/9/2011 09:18 | In my long list of Stocks to Watch this is the only stock in blue this morning, thanks to a very good set of half-yearly results. A 10% hike in divi is very welcome. What a great little company. I should have sold everything else and put 50% of my portfolio into SUS when they were below 300p!!! | jadeticl
22/9/2011 09:17 | Great results there this am - and another increase in the div - the first of three this year I believe! Steady as a rock and moving inexorably towards £7 - and then £10. One day the Coombes family will receive a knock out bid they can't refuse; but I'm happy to hold until then. Well done guys. | philjeans
10/8/2011 09:31 | Yes - very reassuring statement. Glad I didn't sell in the panic - happy to hold in my ISAs LONGTERM. It'll steadily get back to £7. | philjeans
10/8/2011 07:30 | Nice solid update with good news included. 1. They will stay on the Main Market (had considered going onto AIM). Good news. 2. Trading in line with expectations - good 3. Motor finance: impressive start to year - good 4. New Branch in Derby & actively exploring ways to further expand business - good 5. Strong cash flow - good 6. Paid off £2m of loans & reduced borrowings & gearing to 40% (51%) - good 7. New flexible bank facility which will mature in April 2016. Headroom increased - good 8. Improvement in impairment - good | plasybryn
13/7/2011 11:43 | Yes it is a good company, but no longer a compelling investment; this is why I sold out at 650p, having bought at around £3 around a year previously. | this_is_me
13/7/2011 11:04 | 10:26 am S & U pleased with progress and looking forward to good half year In an interview with Proactive Investors, Anthony Coombs, chief executive of S & U, the niche money-lender, described the company as recession resistant and said he was pleased with how the firm was progressing. | aim_trader
23/5/2011 17:38 | Also disappointed jadeticl but also tend to think it is part of a wider IHT strategy for the majority family holders. | chrismcglone
23/5/2011 11:47 | Perhps you are right jeffian. I believe the Coombe family do hold more than my family!!Pity because this has been a very good share for us and we had planned to hold for the long term. | jadeticl
22/5/2011 22:37 | I understand your concern jadeticl but I wonder whether this has something to do with the Coombs family's substantial shareholding. AIM stocks are exempt from IHT. | jeffian
22/5/2011 22:14 | I AM DEVASTATED THAT THEY ARE THNKING OF GOING ONTO AIM. This means I will be forced to liquidate after spending years moving all these share into family ISAs. I have written to the company to comment on this. I guess that is why the shares have fallen 40p since the announcement. | jadeticl
13/5/2011 08:41 | Anyone going to the AGM? Report back? | plasybryn
13/5/2011 08:04 | Once again a very positive IMS + a very quiet thread. A wonderful combination. Just good well covered div and consistent capital growth. | pugugly
24/3/2011 19:05 | These have doubled for me on capital alone--and I have had good value additonally in divi. As you say Plasybryn--a little gem. | jadeticl
23/3/2011 16:31 | What a little gem. | plasybryn
23/3/2011 16:27 | Dividends - since buying in July 2005, I've had approx. 240 pence per share in dividends (including this year's final 16p). | gorse
23/3/2011 13:00 | A great company for dividend lovers | whilstev
23/3/2011 08:10 | Have held this since July 2005 and am happy with this progress. | gorse
23/3/2011 08:05 | Happy with that - great result. On to eight quid this year. | philjeans
23/3/2011 07:53 | If only Anthony had been responsible for running the finances of UK plc, the country would be so very much better off. I think all shareholders owe a vote of thanks to him and his team for an excellent job well done. | pugugly
23/3/2011 07:30 | Results out: Anthony Coombs, Chairman of S&U commented: "Once again I am pleased to announce a strong set of results. I am confident that our uniquely close customer relationships, constant search for growth and a prudent approach to funding, will ensure further good performance for the Group in future". Almost had to wipe a tear away: Our current trading, albeit in cautious markets, reflects this hard work and I am confident will continue to do so. By ensuring that "Every Customer Counts", your Board and myself aim to ensure that S&U remains Britain's Best Home Credit and Motor Finance Provider. Greater rewards for shareholders will naturally follow. Makes yer proud ;-) | cwa1
22/3/2011 12:59 | Up again strongly today - figures should be good! | philjeans
21/3/2011 14:50 | Modest improvement recently. Run up in to the results perhaps? Hoping for a steady if unspectacular release in a couple of days time. Fingers crossed. | cwa1
13/2/2011 18:23 | Sharescope figures for the dividend are 35.14p in 2011, 36.79 in 2012 and 41.2 in 2013. Profits for the same years are £m9.7, 10.21, 11.1 with all the caveats about accuracy to decimal points. That looks to me like 6.2% if the company goes ex-growth and the present price is held to 2013. (632.5/41.2). | hieronymous1
13/2/2011 13:42 | This is certainly a strong hold, but is it a buy for those of us who hold stock already? At this price what is prospect of much higher SP? And at this price what is prospective divi yield? | jadeticl
11/2/2011 08:00 | Luverly jubberly! | philjeans |
