10/9/2018 09:45 | "Two parties are having a look which is a good starting point", said analyst Harry Philips at Peel Hunt, mulling what an appropriate price would be. In light of the Amcor bid for Bemis, he noted the latter is trading on a current year p/e of 17.8x and the original deal was on a 11.7x EBITDA multiple. "If we overlay this onto RPC we get 1330p and 1490p respectively. Clearly, PE will not have the same level of potential synergies so the mentioned numbers are ambitious but what it demonstrates is that RPC is a much mispriced stock." | broadwood
10/9/2018 09:44 | From my limited knowledge of rpc, I echo Sogoesit. If old news to market, presumably shorters unaware - that doesn't ring true. Like any auction, you need 2+ interested parties to get best price, so it's good we have that - nice surprise for a Monday morning. If any holders sold as hacked off last few weeks they will be kicking themselves today. I am guessing the BOD initiated the talks, so now in the open, there could be other interested parties. ...and I thought my biggest decision today was whether or not to mow the lawn! ... I think I will sit on it for another day and review (lawn..and shares). I used to be decisive, now I'm not so sure. ;-) Whatever happens, even if talks don't pan out, process will highlight co strengths and send shorts running. IMO :-) Dave | dr_smith
10/9/2018 09:25 | RPC probably leaked the news themselves to put pressure on the potential purchasers | phillis
10/9/2018 09:13 | Apollo Global are serious players here.Plenty of stock out on loan will be bought back in the next week or so. Peel Hunt reiterates buy, target price 1230p. | shauney2
10/9/2018 09:09 | The BoD probably think they're not best served by the current raft of shareholders, who put a brake on the acquisition strategy, so are looking for a new raft of shareholders who will support their strategy. Who can blame them? AIMV | sogoesit
10/9/2018 08:57 | 7.70? Ouch | cashcow5
10/9/2018 08:54 | lovely surprise ! | swedeee
10/9/2018 08:47 | Why do they “have” to sell the company? If the company is cheap, then takeovers are on the cards, it doesn’t follow there’s something wrong with the company. Still trying to run it down even though you state “it’s a successful company”. | mauricemonkey
10/9/2018 08:44 | 7.70 - so you lost 87 points between close and open. Sounds expensive. | mauricemonkey
10/9/2018 08:42 | A statement of the obvious! | sogoesit
10/9/2018 08:33 | LOL, Some of you never read the full story, I got out at 7.70AT and happy to. When you have to sell your company as the market doesn't believe you, something my have gone wrong here.... as surprise, surprise, two American public equity firms have showed an interest. If they get it for the right price? What I have been posting is common knowledge in the market, this stock has been shorted down as there are concerns and it looks like the Americans have come to the rescue!! It maybe an idea to sell into this spike? I've already shared my champagne out, thank you Cashcow. | beckers2008
10/9/2018 08:28 | comments are unhelpful becaue i can't make out what lies behind them- please make straighforward comments- it would be appreciated | ali47fish
10/9/2018 08:18 | Champagne is on Beckers :D | cashcow5
10/9/2018 08:15 | 'Preliminary discussions'. Might be a case of selling half down the road and running with the rest. But happy days today. | broadwood
10/9/2018 08:12 | Boris Beckers bankrupt | phillis
10/9/2018 08:07 | £8.20ish, 20% rise and 9% probably still needs buying back.. | mauricemonkey
10/9/2018 08:05 | Beckers obviously unable to value the company either whether virtually or in reality. | sogoesit
10/9/2018 07:58 | Oh, so now Beckers says it’s a successful company, bit of a turnaround from him. Could be an expensive start to the day for those (Beckers?) literally caught short. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. | mauricemonkey
10/9/2018 07:54 | The company doesn't have to recommend the offer when it is made | prokartace
10/9/2018 07:50 | Why sell a successful company growing dividends for the last 25 years? Yet another takeover of a GB company? Can't RPC survive in its current form? | beckers2008
10/9/2018 07:37 | The Board of RPC Group Plc ("RPC" or the "Company") notes the recent media speculation and confirms that preliminary discussions are taking place with each of Apollo Global Management and Bain Capital which may or may not result in an offer for the Company. A further announcement will be made when appropriate. Shorters on fire in a delicate part of the body, when the market opens? | redartbmud
10/9/2018 07:05 | Maybe more than rumours. Let’s see what happens. | oli12
09/9/2018 20:53 | Buyout rumours again: | no dice
08/9/2018 19:13 | Beckers,are you short or long on this? | snakeoilsalesman |
