10/11/2021 19:30 | UK has 'real problems' with burning wood for electricity, admits Zac GoldsmithEnvironment minister acknowledges environmental concerns that large-scale use of biomass is harming forests and producing carbon emissionsByEmma Gatten, ENVIRONMENT EDITOR and Olivia Rudgard, ENVIRONMENT CORRESPONDENT6 November 2021 6:00am?There are "real problems" with the burning of wood pellets for energy, an environment minister has admitted, after the Telegraph revealed Britain will continue to burn the equivalent of 25 million trees a year, despite a pledge to end the destruction of forests.Zac Goldsmith, minister of state for Pacific and the environment, said there were "real problems which need to be addressed" with large-scale biomass, which provides around 12 per cent of Britain's electricity, mainly from wood pellets shipped in from the US and Europe. The industry receives green subsidies worth more than £2 million a day because it is classed as renewable and carbon neutral, despite concerns from scientists and environmentalists that it is harming forests and producing carbon emissions.... 10/11/2021 13:54 | travel29 MIN AGOThis weekend the green climate religion lobby just created the new climate imperialsim movement . The first step was to deny funding for energy projects in all developing nations. Apparently these countries will be told they will not be allowed to develop their economies using the energy they have locally but will have to wait until the rich west comes up with something that isn't virtue signalling and is as cheap as the resources they have. (a very long time). Green colonialism will have to be be next and no money will be given to any country that does not have EU (or rich west ) green 'values' -- amazing - just put 'green' in front of it and it is perfectly acceptable now.Luckilly a number of major governments will be on hand to invest (starting with china and russia) and they are there already. Strange a jamboree like cop26 doesn't know that 90% or more of fossil fuel energy assets and projects and supplies are owned and controlled through governments and state organisations. Private companies are irrelevant in this and the hypocritical EU is too. The EU is planning to get all it's gas energy from Russia so investment in that government fossil fuels source is fine ??But never mind many more people in undeveloped economies will be dying from poverty between now and 2060 than will die from a changing climate....
