"famous last words" poo bear with respect to you ( smile ). MM bid price down 20% from yesterday's close so quite a tumble here ! we all need strong fingers to cross with this one or probably any stock at this time !

I start to think that , in these markets and with oil price falling , ROC may go under after fall from 480 to 61.5 in oz and higher volume lately ! A real concern and I can only hope it is a survivor and fundamentals not too bad ! MM stock too which makes it harder to exit .

Great news.

Because the share price is so low already we will hardly notice the 12% drop on the Oz market overnight

Hi Square - I think you are about right concerning the future of ROC.

My last top up done today.

That will do now till whatever and whenever.

Been some good buying of these from punters since they went sub £1, Broker notes quote substantially more than that.

More to the point ROC has a future beyond these difficult times.

Afternoon all

Just gets worse, funny really how the Asia econamies are still growing in these times. The situation is now changing to a confidence issue rather than an a overall fundimental issue IMHO.

ROC has numbered days what was it the third largest outside oiler in China, the biggest independent in Aus. will get taken out sometime when funding becomes available or a cash rich bigger boy.IMHO

Still happy to be here long term unlike a couple of my others. :-))

But my whole portfolio is rather thinner in value that last year LMAO but had a few good hols from the last upturn and sure I will again.

Good luck all

Regards

As a result of the takeover ROC has Nexus holding over 10% of their shares and vice versa.

could not exit poo bear as etrade did not give me a firm quote online at end of day ! They are hopeless ! will open at about 33 or 34 to sell at best today as slipped to 80 cents in oz ( all time low ) . I may just hang on now and pray ! I hold shares and not a CFD in it so at least no hefty financing charges !! good luck .

a pity the gold price recovery today has not dragged oil along ! I take your point on ROC being a survivor but tempted to cut my losses today although MM spread is a real "pain" !!

"2110" You are indeed a great optimist!

If I watch that Football World Cup, it'll be from an urn in someone else's living room.

Typo no problem. Sentiment sound. :-)

Good Ed - thats the way.

Meantime, I will add here on each big drop, just a few to keep the average in range any blip up.

I did read but forgot to note where that one newspaper was touting ROC alongside SIA, TLW and HOIL as quite likely in the sights of larger fish, that would be nice if true but if not the 2110 will bring 20kbopd here and the Footabll World Cup.

Plenty to look forward to.

Good reply. Yes, thinking about, I should be focussing on the pleasures in life.

Eventually, the bad debts of the banks are going to be passed onto the general public, one way or another. It has to happen. For now, the central banks are allowing the commercial banks to take the pain. That is the morally correct approach. When each commercial bank is about to go under, it will be rescued. Eventually the bank shareholders will have no value left and the public will own the bad debts. When RBS, Barclays, etc. sit alongside Northern Rock in public ownership we can move forward again. In the meantime share prices look to be heading ever downwards.

Luckily I can afford to ride this out too. Although it's not pleasant to watch, it's not going to impact on my 'real' life.

Ed - Large doses of dog walks and fine wine, coupled with early retirement which allows this to be interesting rather than mind blowing.

I do appreciate most are not in the same position as me but I can look beyond today the next few months.

It'll blow over.

... "I am not depressed at all about the current market."

How do you do it? The daily falls are drawing me towards the window ledge. ;-(

If it's medication that keeps you on an even keel, please let me know which one. I feel in need of some. ;-/

arja - FWIW I would rather be invested in an Oiler like ROC which has a steady income stream than a smaller E&P with limited of no production but plenty on the exploration portfolio and not much cash.

The problems they will face will be lack of money about and if some pundits are right, a drop in the oil price back to around $50 to $75.

Most others are looking at expensive oil plays which is fine when the price of oil is high, different ball game when it's not.

Long term as these little guys drop out of the game, the price of oil will rise again on the back of less new oil to the market and diminishing existing stocks.

Others, to hold and there are some great plays like TLW, CNE, SIA and so on

ROC is a gift at these prices.

My thoughts, I am not depressed at all about the current market.

i guess so ! the market maker system in UK should be made obsolete but "jobs for the boys" prevails ! it creates iliquidity also as punters can not trade with wide % spread ! anyway, only down 2 cents at moment in oz with an hour to go !

Try a negotiated trade if you want to sell, the reason you did not get a quote is that this one does not have much day to day volume.
