15/12/2023 15:46 | Jacob Rothschild was running things then and with a massive holding our objectives were entirely aligned Was very happy investing alongside him for many years and did very wellSold out couple of years back but watching atm | panshanger1
15/12/2023 15:18 | It may appear jaw dropping now, but at one point people were prepared to pay a 7% NAV Premium. | essentialinvestor
15/12/2023 15:14 | The fact is CLDN is still on a wider discount than RCP despite being a much better trust in my opinion. RCP only looks attractive versus its historic discount, but compared to other trusts doesn't look out of the ordinary. RCP used to be viewed as a kind of bullet proof portfolio that would withstand all environments - it held up well in the GFC and other bear markets. For that reason it was held in high regard by private investors and wealth managers, and traded on a premium for a long time. I think we can say that reputation has been lost and not sure it will ever go back to its earlier lofty rating. | riverman77
15/12/2023 14:31 | Closed my latest small trade, back in under £17.50, if available. | essentialinvestor
15/12/2023 08:43 | Charges here are a frequent criticism. | essentialinvestor
15/12/2023 07:51 | Thanks Essential. I guess I was wondering about current views. Other similar trusts like eg. Caledonian have seen some re-ratings, even SMT is up 15 percent or so. But RCP still languishing? | dickiehh
14/12/2023 22:25 | An earlier discussion here if you page back fwiw - I can't add anything more, others may be able to. | essentialinvestor
14/12/2023 21:51 | What do people currently think about this trust? Why is the discount so persistently wide (compared to historic discount?). Yes, they have privately quoted investments but is this the only reason? With interest rates falling, surely this is going to see some love? Or am I missing something? | dickiehh
13/12/2023 13:34 | Added a small amount. I've bought under £17.50 multiple times and taken a small gain as it approachs £18. Obvs this is not going to keep working, but the current pattern until is isn't etc. | essentialinvestor
12/12/2023 14:01 | "The London Stock Exchange is looking capitalise on companies staying private for longer by launching a world-first stock market for private companies – temporarily called the “intermittent trading venue” – as early as next year. Private debt is set to be a “key beneficiary of [the] structural shift” as the industry is “uniquely positioned to benefit from the shifts under way”, Blackrock’s 2024 Private Markets Outlook report said...." | kiwi2007
05/12/2023 13:44 | The volumes being bought back appears to have significantly reduced ? | essentialinvestor
05/12/2023 07:54 | Apologies fat fingers. I meant to type £18. As far as I am concerned this is a 3-5+ year investment. If it goes back to NAV it’s 33% return and then hopefully some returns on top of that. | chillpill
04/12/2023 17:11 | Intra-day 12 month low is £17.18 to the best of my knowledge - whether that would capture a fleeting move below that level, I could not say. | essentialinvestor
04/12/2023 16:52 | SI Surely the years quoted low of 17.18 is based on closing prices? | acol
04/12/2023 07:47 | The year low is 17.18 GBP so curious how you picked up any below 17 GBP plank LOL | scepticalinvestor
22/11/2023 08:21 | Picked some of these up below £17 last week. I’m quite enjoying picking up some of these heavily discounted Investment Trusts I am prepared to hold for several years. | chillpill
19/11/2023 15:13 | looking closer at the risk level of growth equity. It’s about half as risky as venture capital and about 10% less risky than PE leveraged buyouts. | f56
16/11/2023 13:51 | Can't seem to get any momentum here, but these levels are good for the long term. | chc15
15/11/2023 12:46 | Indeed, I've been buying here too, CLDN having a good rise lately as well. | chc15
15/11/2023 08:31 | @1774p and 26% discount to market I am a happy buyer. Followed them for years. Just seems a great time to buy on a 10 year basis. | chillpill
07/11/2023 17:24 | RCP NAV has dropped 14% from it’s peak NAV. RCP discount has simultaneously moved from +10% to -25%. | f56
06/11/2023 13:08 | Bounced again from that level, closed out my dmall trade, but perhaps eorth a look longer term. | essentialinvestor
25/10/2023 11:02 | Bought back a small position here too today. In terms of capital preservation it's lost it's way (PNL is my preference from that perspective) but this is still a good fund for exposure to unlisted investments and long-term growth, and the downside from here is mitigated by the unusually large discount. | 1nf3rn0
23/10/2023 11:58 | Just had a tiny nibble here, first time purchase, along with CLDN last week. | chc15
23/10/2023 10:00 | Discount c.28%. Possibly unprecedented | makinbuks |
