Bigdog, Hyper, Freedosh, manulad (& other old rifters),

Take a look at Encore oil 'EO.', which is having a breather today. Very large, light-oil discovery at Cladhan (Gross 425ft column) with NO OIL-WATER CONTACT confirmed yesterday. House broker has raised target to £1.63 (not surprising) but IF what some are now saying turns out to be correct, Cladhan will be the largest north sea oil-discovery this year and possibly the last several years.

Also, drilling about to kick-off at Varadero site, just west of Catcher oil discovery (300mmbbls), which is believed to be the largest oilfield discovered since Buzzard. Rig should have moved already but bad weather has held it up. But a 3-4 well drill campaign is imminent, about to drill on Catcher look-a-likes just west of the Catcher oilfield.

Again, its having a retrace today so have a look if you folks get time.

More Altona after todays correction and been topping up Leed (LDP) recently. Should be a short term correction in LDP this month, IMO (production from new well and clean up operations ongoing at others).

RRR are going to issue an RNS very soon this was sent out to shareholders today

"Dear Shareholders and Colleagues,

An article appeared over the weekend recommending Red Rock with a target mentioned of 20p per share. This article appeared in the Midas column of the Mail on Sunday, a widely read and influential column. A link is given below:

I would have phrased the reference to Kenyan production a little less definitively, but the thrust of the article is positive and the article is a good one that is well worth reading. We think that – but we would, wouldn't we?

We are aware that we will have now, and over the next few days, many new shareholders, and so we will make an effort to update the market on progress on Colombia and other matters as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, to all existing shareholders, thank you for all your support and I hope we can continue to justify it.

Andrew Bell"

Press Release

For immediate release: 27 September 2010

EnCore Oil plc ('EnCore' or 'the Company')

Catcher Rig Contract

EnCore Oil plc (LSE: EO.) is pleased to announce that a rig contract has been
signed to enable further drilling to take place in UKCS Central North Sea Block
28/9, where the Catcher discovery was made in June this year. The Transocean Galaxy II heavy duty jack-up rig is expected to return to the Catcher area later this week to drill up to four exploration and appraisal wells. The first well in the programme is on the Varadero exploration prospect situated to the west of the Catcher discovery.

Commenting on the rig contract, Alan Booth, EnCore's Chief Executive Officer
said: "We are delighted that the rig contract has been signed and we have a firm timeframe for further drilling in the Catcher area. The team has done a
significant amount of work to enable further exploration and appraisal of the
block in such a short timeframe. We remain excited about the upside potential of the Catcher area which we hope will be better understood in the coming weeks and months."

The equity in the Catcher / Block 28/9 joint venture partnership is as follows:
EnCore Oil plc (15 per cent., Operator), Premier Oil (35 per cent.), Wintershall (UK North Sea) Limited (20 per cent.), Nautical Petroleum (15 per cent.) and Agora Oil & Gas (15 per cent.).

Exciting times at Encore all the way until Xmas.

Thanks for that list, there are a few on it I have never heard of but it is always good to get in before the crowd. I am fully invested at the moment and happy with my portfolio but I will research some of those miners for the future.Keep us updated on anything interesting.

Hi LGW and all other old-Rifters!! Good to see that this thread is still active. Haven't been on here for ages - so thought I'd log in!

Moved entirely out of oil/gas explorers over the past year or two and am now 90% focused on small AIM or TSX or ASX - listed gold/silver producer. My reasoning is that the precious metals companies are much more attractive, particularly over the recent increases in gold & silver prices. Also, now that I understand a [little] bit more of the JORC and NI 43-101 Resource Codes, I feel that it is much easier to base investment decisions. With the "oilies" there is always the risk and disappointment of a totally dry hole after much investment in drilling. The diamond drilling of many relatively shallow holes and core sampling seems to me to give a quicker and more precise result.

LGW - I totally agree about RRR and if there are others on here who are also looking at similar companies then cast your eyes over this list all of which I hold [some for many months];

AGQ [Arian Silver]
AAU [Ariana]
DME [Discovery Metals] - OK it's copper but the same principle holds
EMED[EMED Mining] have held since 3008 on and off. Taking for ever to get the permit to open the old Rio Tinto mine in Spain. But I still like it [just!]
KEFI[Kefi Minerals]
MML [Medusa Mining] - a jewel! Producing near to 100 ozs of gold per annum at a cash cost of around US$192/oz!!! Been in there for getting on for 18 months now. No bank debt and selling is unhedged! Will be using the income to fund development of other prospects but going to pay a maiden dividend in November!!!
MIRL [Minera] just bought into this one - should have done so earlier
NYO [Nyota Minerals] - long term hold
OLV [Olivut Resources] listed on the Toronto Venture Exchange
OYM [Olympus Pacific] - listed on the Toronto Main Exchange
OMI [Orosur Mining]
RRR [Red Rock Resources]
VGM [Vatukoula Gold

I'm in profit on all those except for two. Many are dual listed on AIM and ASX or TSX and so are hold in ISA accounts.

Hope this is of use to someone and I apologise if it sounds as though I'm boasting.

Cheers and good luck to all.
Peter

Afternoon Everybody,
Anyone here have shares in Argos Resources ( ARG )?
I bought some this morning @58.87p, they have a long way to go before they get around to sinking the drill bit in the seabed, but there is the likelihood of them being bought out by RKH / DES or another much larger company.

Good luck to you all with your stock picking.
Keep Happy, have a good weekend !

What do you think will be the catalyst for the rerating of Thor Hyper?
I read the rns yesterday and thought it might take them longer to get through to investors compared to RRR whom I expect to rise significantly before Jan 2011.
