There's an encouraging snippet for RNWH in VP.'s AGM statement this morning:

"The infrastructure sector, including water, transmission and rail in particular, has remained supportive and we continue to work with our customers on delivery of the longer term regulatory driven capital investment programmes"

Seymour Civil recruiting hard to enable further growth, particularly in water:

Extracts:

"These appointments come as Seymour announces its desire to expand further in energy, water, highways and industry"

"I’m excited to have joined the Seymour Civil Engineering team at this exciting time for the business, helping to build on our long-established reputation within the UK water market and leading our drive to achieve our vision to be the ‘leading water sector specialist’ for our chosen key clients.”

AmcoGiffen have just been awarded a £5m contract to rebuild the fire-damaged Troon station:

QTS have announced a senior hire to aid their expansion in England:

"Lorna Gibson, Director of QTS Training said: “It’s great to have welcomed Phil at such an exciting time for us. His vast knowledge and experience will prove hugely beneficial to QTS Training, particularly as we scale up our operations at our English training centres.

“We have huge ambitions to grow our business in the next few years and Phil will play a crucial role in this, helping to grow both the team and the level of training services we offer."

And here's nice coverage of Shepley's 75 years in business and their nuclear contracts at Sellafield etc:

Thanks Thorpematt!

Challenged markets can provide great opportunities to pick up quality stocks on the cheap.

Rather than just buying something that's cheap per se, look to buy something that you really LIKE that is currently available cheaply.

HH 100,
Thanks for the update, I forgot about the GARP thread. it's an interesting update. I see there are not many posts on the BB.

I originally sugested RNWH for it sonce felt it qa one of my portfolio that qualified.

I think my long term holdings are more Quarp than GARP, that is to say I prefer quality at a discount (especially in this environment).

I will endeavour to post on the GARP thread if I feel any of my stocks are relevant, because I think it is a very worthy BB.

In the meantime congrats on your NWT performance!....RNWH will of course be closing the gap in due course ;-)

Promising looking rise ; not that far from a 1 year high. I wonder if the market is re-examining the low risk niche position of RNWH or just another blip.

Excellent news for RNWH yesterday, with OFWAT accelerating £2.2 billion of water infrastructure investment:

"Ofwat approves early start for £2.2bn water infrastructure investment with companies under pressure to cut leaks and river pollution

Ofwat has approved acceleration of 33 investments by water firms worth £2.2bn
They include measures to improve water quality and install smart metres

The water industry watchdog has given the green light to the acceleration of around £2.2billion worth of investments to reduce leaks and river pollution.

Ofwat said on Tuesday it has approved 33 investment schemes put forward by water companies, which include measures to improve water quality and install smart meters.

The first tranche of investments is set to begin in the next two financial years, from 2023 to 2025, with projects to be completed by 2030.

etc"

Once again, forget the conservative broker forecasts going forward - they've always been irrelevant in the past and they will likely continue to be so.

For newbies, I repeat....In Jan'17 the forecast to Sept'19 was 35.8p EPS. RNWH achieved 40.5p EPS.

In Jan'18 the forecast to Sept'20 was 37.9p EPS. RNWH achieved 40.9p EPS - even with six months of Covid! Prior to that RNWH beat forecasts from earlier years in each of 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Since then EPS has grown from 40.5p EPS to Sept'19 to 59.3p EPS last year - almost 50% in 3 years, always beating broker forecasts. And that's with Covid.

- so it's best to ignore forward broker forecasts, which are evidently and traditionally conservative not only in terms of organic growth but also because they (rightly) exclude potential earnings-enhancing acquisitions
- the perception of RNWH is shifting to a more exciting proposition with high visibility of future income, yet also involvement in multiple long term growth sectors and much less contract risk than other sector comparators
- institutions love companies which consistently outperform and have high security of income. Thus over time RNWH should benefit from a double whammy of outperforming or at least meeting conservative forecasts and a re-rating from the current multiple to one more befitting of RNWH's record, i.e imo around 15-16.

The various analysts covering RNWH have converged around a price target of 900p-950p. I see no reason why the share price shouldn't move towards this from here, with further upside from acquisitions and/or trading statements.

I see no disadvantage on AIM - the ftse 250 is down about the same. Ratings have come down. Nomads are no protection at all - look at all those fraud Chinese AIM IPOs - all had Nomads and U.K. non execs - UselessManagement here are top class I think but with anaemic dividend growth and no EPS growth at all in the broker numbers for 3 years we need a deal and/or a beat. But a safe hold while we wait

But much of AIM is considered to be comprised of risky stocks hence some claim it to be a casino market whereas Renew is considered to be one of the more safe stocks on it? Would you say that being on AIM is a disadvantage to holders not investing for the IHT benefit?

Yes but AIM is down 30% in that time so think needs to be put in that context. Multiples have come down.

RNWH went ex-div last Thursday with the 6p interim dividend, so it's encouraging to now see the share price higher at 727p-732p than it was last week taking the divi into account.

The gradual share price recovery looks like a one year high will soon be reached. I never really understood the drop and like most I just held. Maybe I am being optimistic , but I do wonder if this might turn out to be a takeover target in the next few yrs. A solid perfomer in a reliable niche now.Not sure I would want that though!

Berenberg have a note out today with a 950p price target. I think this a new coverage from them.
