alch,
Red's machine will certainly be ready to supply 60kW over the peak demand periods on a winter's evening between say 5pm and 7pm. If it doean't get sufficient charge from the solar to do that, then it will simply charge from the grid earlier in the day when electricity is very much cheaper. the grid charges businesses a lot more during peak perionds, and home consumers will also pay more once most have a smart meter... but they'll pay much less diuring weak demand therefore cheap periods

The logic and maths of storage intrigues and fascinates me.Especially a dull December model.16 hours of dark, lower component of sun power/energy.And if you need power on a dark December night , surely the Grid will be under stress and can charge more? However you can over spec solar at almost nil marginal cost. And presumably you can keep vanadium energy back for a dark eight o'clock on a December morning.if you buy enough from RedT? Anyone up to the maths and logic for this threads benefit? Presumably the Nation could hold days of Vanadium storage for a small proportion of the cost of new Hinckley?

I'm reading!

The mismatch is only in the numbers - i.e. a 450kW solar array doesn't genereate 450kW all the time. When it generates more than a spare 60kW, then any excess will be fed back to the local network. red's machine will take 5 hours from fully depleted to fully charged at max rate, so in the summer, it may be fully charged at say midday, while in winter it may take till mid afternoon. Or in bad winter or summer it may never be fully charged (there are a lot of considerations to get the sizing right).

But a few complexities on top of all that - firstly it may not be fully depleted before charging, and secondly it may not be fully charged before being used. In fact the software will probably be such that it tries to maximise revenue by supplying several services, such as primary and secondary response while also being in a state to contribute 60kW during triads. Also it will pick up capacity payments for guaranteeing 60kW during some periods national grid decides. It all gets complicated to maximise reveue - it doesn't just charge up fully when it's sunny and discharge later in the day at the peak prices (although it will do that as well).

i expect the conservative size 60/300 was chosen to fully make use of the machine connected to a variable 450kW array while deciding whether there's spare generation to justify one or more further storage machines for each 450kW array.

not sure if he is reading, but I would be interested to hear from Pierre Oreilly regarding the following (from mm link above):

"The utility has purchased a 60kW/300kWh redT energy storage machine to install alongside a 450kWp solar PV system at one of its works. "

Agreed this is a pilot, but I would expect a larger output power here considering the size of the solar PV installation.

25000 per tank. 15% Margin . Try 2000 tanks per annum.....modelling parameters not yet complete.

Agreed and Iincome will be variable as there are several metrics that RedT sell on as cash generators … guarantee, timeshifting, Elecrolyte leasing, etc. Therefore specifics will be scarce

1savvyinvestor, take any other company that announces a deal. Where do you read about cost of sales? Income (sales value) is also irrelevant until you have invoiced, and then only likely to be consolidated in the financial reports that get published for the year or better.

Following red from afar but interested. However I can't get a handle on the finances if this deal. Am I missing something? Literally nothing about cost of sales or income

No, that's on topic. People away. Road traffic in London bearable, the turbines of things will start early September. To have good news in August is a blessing....it will bolster things for longer than usual.

Slightly off topic but I am surprised at how little effect the mentions in national papers' city pages has had.

The three year chart shows we are trying to breach a line of resistance which was previously a line of support. Volumes on news flow would indicate that this will be beached either with a period of consolidation around these levels or a break out with further good news. The longer it takes to break out I can see selling by punters with a short time scale which will be good if you want to collect more shares.I personally would like a few more a little cheaper before the next move up

Was that a sale or order?

300kwh order? sold or another giveaway?

What does "initial" mean?

If scott had sold anything he would be screaming it high and loud.

What does "order" mean??????????

We have sold a 300kwh battery with more to follow???? NO...... It`s an order?????

Still no sales......

This is starting to smell like a backdoor for friends and looking for new investors for another fund raiser....

You guys tell me `i`m wrong?

https://www.solarpowerportal.co.uk/news/anglian_water_signs_deal_with_redt_that_could_optimise_solar_across_uk_siteI've been out today "sorry" if this been seen. Delivery within six months. All the other imbedded McGregorisms ...not a battery, 25 years, behind the meter, different revenue stacks... 5hours .. increased solar.....all is there!
