£53?, That may be a very decent longer term entry point,
if we got that low.

Looking at the relative valuation to ULVR, RB. looks on the high side to me.
You could makes a case RB. might get an offer at some point which justifies the current multiple.

STRONG BUY, RB has been hit by several one off problems, it's still a solid business based of Durex, Dettol and Air Wick on it's own. People will always need condoms and cleaning products, buy and hold forever is what you do with RB. STRONG BUY

These last few weeks have been terrible for the markets, trade war then brexit then fed raising rates too quick. Hopefully the next few months are smoother as we move towards santa rally time.

brutal drop, not surprised though, stocks go up the stairs and down the elevator. Stock returns are asymmetric, this means there is always a sharp drop over bad news and a gradual rise over good news.

It's something to do with treasury yields in the USA. My CFd broker rang me saying to go long. That was at £69 mind.

Still selling off, very strange. Not even a bond proxy, so interested to know why the sharp drop.

4% drop in a day is a lot for something like RB, surprised there is no news to this drop. A broker note etc? Results? CEO comments?

Just a pull back on a general down day after a strong run recently.

No, I was wondering whether it was a broker downgrade, but I can’t find one.

RB is a pure defensive play, it's real merits come along in recessions where you preserve your capital. It may not grow the fastest, but you will beat the market holding this company a decade plus. RB is a buy below £70 right now for sure.

My personal view is that this is a stock for passive investors.

Have held this stock for more than a decade with a yield-on-investment of 15% pa including dividends.
It is now middle of its pricing range on the basis of compound annual growth (capital only) so, in my view, a good time to invest.
Then leave it for the next decade or so.
Good luck otherwise if that's not a strategy that interests you.

Did they ever go away?

[Have held this for over a decade. It pottered along at 12% CAGR then 15.3% then accelerated to 18.3% CAGR, became overbought, then mean-reverted etc. etc. excluding dividends. Including dividends my overall annual yield-on-investment has been 15% pa].

First decent set of results after 8 poor quarters. Not quite there yet but at least pointing in the right direction
