All the way through this travesty, Raven have made clear in writing that they'll do whatever they can to restore the dividends to the Prefs before anything else.

Thus, unless the Ukraine situation worsens, (e.g. Putin drops a limited range Nuke or something which will be a whole new world for us all) I believe Putin will be sidelined, the Russian middle classes will want their Western stores with their expensive goodies back and the ruble will become tradeable again.

Seems unthinkable to some but who on earth ( literally) wants a permanent state of war with Russia? No-one.

So, in 3 to 5 years these could be one of the best investments a LTH'er could have made. Agreed though, a very rocky road on the way there ...

Can't wait for our newly registered KGB trolls to kick off on this one!

pauldaviesuk - I'm in the same boat as you, but received a letter from HSBC some time back saying that this would happen and that they would send a share certificate. I am the eternal optimist so live in hope that at some time accrued divis will be paid!

Just wondered, does anyone know anything about the original thread owner Kenny? He doesn't seem to have posted for quite some time(though possibly understandable given how things have transpired).

Is anyone in touch with him/knows if he's ok?

anyone have a picture of what holders are willing to buy/sell RAV and RAVP holdings in terms of volume and prices via the new matched bargain facility?

I'd take it up with HSBC. Unless they've told you they're sending you a certificate they shouldn't just disappear like that.

Good morning all - I note that my RAVP shares have disappeared from my HSBC InvestDirect account this morning. There's no transaction that has been identified (but I suppose that'll be because they are a delisted equity), so I assume that I shall be getting a fancy piece of paper telling me that I own lots of worthless things! I don't have a CREST account so that I can't enter them into Raven Property's free trading mechanism . . . . I wonder what the outcome will be? I assume that I've lost any residual value that these may have? Just asking to see if there is any more info out there.

Don't hold your breath this time Z. In a recent correspondence wit HL they told me flatly that they would not issue me a paper certificate for Gazprom, saying simply that issuance of aper certificates is something they do not any longer do.

The only thing which influences HL is adverse social and press media comment. They reply promptly and politely, but are totally immovable by private requests and pleas, however much you stand to lose. They are still under a cloud after continuing to push a certain unit trust until it went belly up though, where it became clear that profit to them trumped client financial interests. They are thus touchy about public criticism. 'Client service and satisfaction' are their big marketing themes, though looking after the clients is historic rather than current fact.

I had some pretty bad experiences with them around 2009-10; in some ways they've improved over time, so I never got around to moving my accounts, but I never gave them any more money.

It's commendable what they did then. Would they do it again today, I doubt it very much. That should tell you or you need to know. You're probably paying more today for a much worse service.

Thank you for the quick and helpful posts, very helpful - I'll check out 2076.

KK: It does seem that HL are on the decline but in 2010 (I think it was) they 'made me whole' to the tune of £22k on an Irish bank bond where they didn't issue the prospectus to private investors (as instructed by the the issuers) which I thought very honourable as they didn't really have to: The issuer dictated their actions.

That sort of thing engenders a certain loyalty! Mind you Peter Hargreaves was still there then...

HL have cut back on several services blaming the pandemic. The most useful service was the Bed & ISA. They say that will be reinstated in due course.

I've had a paper certificate from HL in the past. They must have got lazy. See Rahosi's post 2076 which has an email for someone at the company who can help with website access.

You need to look for another broker, (I mean it for all your shares). They charge high fees and very unhelpful when you need their help. I have mine with iweb and they will issue a certificate free of charge. They told me it would take about 5 to 6 weeks.

So, RAVP shares moved from my ISA to my general account but SIPP drawdown ones left as they are by HL.

writing to Hargreaves Lansdown to ask if they could issue a certificate and release the electronic shares that way.

Here's the reply:-!

'However I can confirm that, unfortunately, we do not issue paper certificates and as the shares are delisted no further action can be taken to trade these shares.'
'To potentially have paper certs you may wish to find a provider that may allow the transfer of delisted shares from us and possibly provide the facility of withdrawing shares in paper certificate format'.

Seems rather unhelpful I must say!

Well for me, it was due to the mistake that Iweb did with my holding. I also think that having them registered in my name, the company will send any update of company position directly to me in the future.

Has anyone notice this with their account. I had a look at my Iweb account and my shares are showing in my trading account with no value, which I was expecting. What I was not expecting to see was less share holding. They have written (Inward Stock Adjustment). Will have to call them tomorrow as see what this is all about.

Yes - that's what happened on 29-June - the shares were transferred out of my HSBC S&S ISA account into my non-ISA account. They sit there at a notional value of £0.20 but I am not able to trade them. HSBC say that they will "with reasonable endeavours on this date [27-July-22] begin the process to re-register and deliver to you a certificate of the unlisted shares in your own name" - or I can transfer them from HSBC to "another broker . . . free of charge" prior to 27-July.

Any further thoughts on what is going to happen? I see discussion on the RAVP website of a matched bargain facility to assist shareholders to trade Ord or Pref shares provided that one has a CREST (or similar) electronic certificate for the Equity - any thoughts on that?

You will probably find that they will transfer them into a regular trading account, if you have none they will open one for you. This is what iweb (Halifax) said they will do if I don't swap for share certicate. The choice you have is get them transfered to share certificate or regular trading account. Which ever way they will not hold in ISA account.

We left HSBC a few months ago (long story...) and our ISA holdings are now with XO. Our RAVPs still appear in my ISA A/c??
