I agree with your comment basemi and I had a portfolio in which I was spreading my risk but I decided to sell numerous shares in the last few weeks so to build a significant shareholding in both Ramsdens and H&T. I am aware that there has been a significant increase in earnings per share yet the share price in both companies is lower than it was a few years ago hence they are now both selling at a lower price earnings ratio than was previously the case. I also like the fact that both companies have many millions in cash. What are your thoughts basemi about Ramsdens going forward?

It was the virus that tore this stock down earlier last year,as it did many shares at the time. It had been doing very well before that. There has been some recovery since.

I believe that as things become more difficult and inflation occurs,Ramsdens will grow further.
We'll see.
Good luck folks.

I am very appreciative to you and others who post on this and other boards. The truth is that I have in recent months gone big time into Ramsdens and H&T with over 1% of Ramsdens and 0.5% of HAT. I believe I have been correct in taking large positions in both these companies but of course I am interested in reading more about these companies on the ADVFN board most especially if anybody has any concerns about the pawn broking business. By definition most people who post on this board will be shareholders of Ramsdens and hence positive about this company so to read any concerns that people may have would be of particular interest to me. I certainly have found it interesting in building a stake in these companies due to the lack of liquidity. I must have had about twenty phone calls this week from my broker in order for him to satisfy my order.

I do tend to share my research when I first get into a share ....it calms down after a while.
The further research helps me and I hope it helps anyone else...even if annoying for those here ages.
People don't have to read it but it does give potential new investors a taste of the business.

Anyway, the key thing in the results will be the effect of lower FX as that was easy profit. Very difficult to get to grips with what the financials might look like.

What happens if the loan is not repaid?

In the event of you being unable to repay your pawnbroking loan, your item(s) will be sold in order to repay the amount outstanding. If the proceeds of the sale are greater than the amount due under the loan, including the costs incurred for selling the items, these monies will be repaid to you.

Don’t think it’ll get to that rating. There’s always fear of government intervention on these types of business. The more they diversify into currency the better for me.

I have only been a shareholder in both Ramsdens and H&T for a few months so your long term knowledge of this company is valuable to this board. I agree with you re both the valuation and the net cash situation. I hate debt as well. Actually I was born and bred in Manchester so how I became a Sheffield Owl is beyond my understanding!!!!!!!!LOL.

I hope you are correct basemi. I am in this share for the long term. I don't have a pound sign on my lap top as I purchased it in the USA. Do you see Ramsdens as a better investment than H&T and if so why please may I ask you?
