15/4/2022 11:11 | The crude oil market continued its ascent on Thursday on indication that the European Union (EU) may eventually agree to place a ban on Russian oil imports. During the session, the Brent crude rose by 2.27 per cent or $2.47 to sell at $111.30 per barrel as the United States West Texas Intermediate (WTI) appreciated by 1.89 per cent or $1.97 to trade at $106.2 a barrel. The market clung to signals that the EU has been seriously mulling sanctions on Russian energy supply since it condemned the killing of unarmed civilians in Bucha by Russian forces while retreating from Ukrainian towns. Reports emerged that the bloc is moving toward adopting a phased-in ban on Russian oil to give Germany and other countries time to arrange alternative suppliers. A phased-in ban would force European buyers to seek alternative sources, some of which in the near term are being met by Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) releases. In the future, more supplies coming out of the ground will be required since a ban on Russian oil could add a deficit of 3 million barrels per day to an already tight market. | haggismchaggis

13/4/2022 11:32 | I think the troublemaker from the LSE site was a woman called Alexis. My theory is that she contacted a senior official who had not been involved in the negotiations and as a result decided to scupper them. Well done that woman. | becclesbasher

13/4/2022 09:05 | Boiiiiing!! Oil Prices Rise As Chinese Demand Begins To Rebound By Tom Kool - Apr 12, 2022 Confirming the unprecedented tightness in middle distillates across the globe, low-sulphur diesel continues to trade at a widely steep premium vs Dated Brent, currently at around $38 per barrel. - Whilst Asia’s tight stocks might be alleviated in the long run by China’s lockdowns, US diesel inventories continue to plummet despite being at 4-year lows already, leaving only India and the Middle East as potential sources of incremental diesel supply. - Whilst Russian diesel exports did drop some 100,000 b/d month-on-month in March, trending around 650,000 b/d, outflows are still largely uninterrupted compared to the expectations. - Nevertheless, diesel stocks in NW Europe remain depressed, roughly half of what they were this time of the year in 2021 and might continue declining amidst refinery maintenance in the region. | haggismchaggis
12/4/2022 23:10 | Oh fair enough, perhaps it was a buy but does seem to have put the brakes on a bit | kreature
