pilot holes can also be used to determine what's down there in terms of rock type, fracture etc.

That document suggests it was 50m west of the well location. hxxp://dccae.gov.ie/documents/Appendix%20B%20Technical%20Recommendation%20Providence%20Resources%20Application%20to%20Drill%20Well%20Druid%20Drombeg%2053%206A%20Redacted.pdf

That document seems to suggest to obtain optimal setting depth of 20" casing. Seems to be to 3250m below sea surface.

Johno ,What would be the significance of drilling a pilot hole first?

45-60 day target for both prospects.

How does no announcement by day 22 equate to a delay?

Atlantic high coming in with wind and waves moderating. Possibly one of the PSV's has been acting lookout while Nomad gone to shore. Expect to-ing and fro-ing to pick up again now.

So was that 750,000 a buy at 12:57 @ 16.50p or a sell from yesterday.Seems there's a delay in getting to the depth of Druid, wish PVR would give us an update on how it's going instead of radio silence.

Sjoborg, Frende and Flora have all gone to the rig, presumably taking stuff there, but none have come back, this is not usual, there must be some delay, either they can't offload due to the weather, their stuff is not needed because the Icemax isn't drilling, or they are waiting to take something off. Who knows?

ngms27 - "Tomorrow is likely danger day for an RNS. The old saying is bury bad news on a Friday."

Not always the case m8 - look at UKOG releasing that RNS at 1611hrs on Friday 14th July (re: Update and consent for flow testing) - that started the climb from 3p up to 11p.

Lots of others have released good news on a Friday, though it usually is late afternoon. Bad news on a Fri is generally in morning.

No news tomorrow morning could indicate brilliant news late tomorrow afternoon or Monday morning.

Fingers and toes crossed.

No allowance made for the use of state of the art technology on board the drill ship and 3D-microseismic-imaging- now in use?
Of course not!
The old ways are the best ways according to some pessimists - stick a drill bit in the ground and hope for the best Jed Clampett style!

NgmsVery rarely do you find COS of over 70%, 30% is not bad odds..

I'm not sure why some people get so upset when someone tries to introduce a little reality into the board. This board has been awash with wild optimism since before drilling started. If the well is a success that's great and all holders (myself included and I suspect ngms too) will do will from it. But I don't see how it helps anyone make effective investment decisions to create a groupthink in which anyone who suggests the well isn't going to be a resounding success gets shouted down.

ngms is right - the predrill cos for this well is in keeping with explo wells in general - which means it's more likely to fail than to succeed.
